Room for Rent and other rental scams

This is still an active scam apparently. This same number claims to be Dr. Jeremy Cooper and his wife Linda Copper (sic) and they advertise a local property that is also listed on Zillow as well as the local Long's Realty page. So, he didn't ask me for money because I called him on why the two ads with very different prices and which was the real one. I can't paste the text from my phone, but it's much the same as the letter pasted here.

http://sierravista.craigslist.org/apa/3897518739.html is the listing if anyone can see it before they remove the post. I've not notified anyone yet, should I?

The email listed is [email protected] but I just used the email responder through CL. The text messages give additional information. He has stopped answering me since I brought up the fact that I had researched the property and had questions as to the discrepancies on rental amounts. He said that he and his wife were living in Vegas now, they didn't trust the realtor here. I don't think English is his first language and he claimed to be a physician. Little tells like bad grammar, telling me the zipcode, etc.

My sister almost got caught by this same Dr. Jeremy Cooper guy. He was advertising for the house listed below on CraigsList. The offer was too good to be true so we new it had to be. He was offering the house for $400 a month all utilities included. But he made up a story about how him and his wife Cassandra Fisher moved to Vegas and they were unable to get a realtor here in Tucson to manage the house for them. So when my sister asked to see the house he just said to send him the 1st months rent then he would send her the keys/contract to the house. She immediately stopped contact with him.

I just had the same experience with this guy. He said he was Dr Jeremy Cooper and his wife is Cassandra Cooper. They just moved to Las Vegas. A 3 bed 2 bath house for only $600 with utilities included? His phone number is from Iowa. http://tucson.craigslist.org/apa/4017266431.html I knew it was a scam as I have seen a few scammers on craigslist recently but played along to get more info.

Beware of scammers, phone numbers out of state usually are scammers.

I just had the same experience with this guy. He posted an add on Craigslist that was too good to be true. A 2 story, 2 bed/2.5 bath house with a loft, for $600 (in this neighborhood the normal is $900+). He posted it the ad the same day that an add went up on Zillow.com and Rentals.com. Same pictures, same description, everything. Then took the ad off of craigslist less than 24 hours later. He told my husband he was a doctor that had just moved up to Las Vegas with his wife, Cassandra. That they couldn't find a Realtor they could trust, and that if we sent him the $600 via Western Union to his wife, that he would FedEx us the documents and keys to the house. Luckily we did our research and got a hold of the realty company that handles the property, and figured out what was going on. Hopefully there are no other repercussions from this.

The address he was trying to "rent" to us was:

8092 E. Senate St
Tucson, AZ 85730
