The apartment located in 10118 106 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5H 2T3 is still available. As you can see from the pictures is in excellent condition, very clean and very well kept. Is the first time I'm renting this apartment and I'm trying to find a responsible tenant to take good care of the place. You can use my furniture if you want and everything from the apartment otherwise you can deposit it in the storage unit that is near the building not far away. Of course I will cover the costs for movers. The apartment rent is 580CAD/month with everything included-all the utilites (heat, hydro, water, electricy, 2 parking spots, laundry in-suite, washer and dryer also included, cable and internet- full package paid for 1 year in advance). You also have full access to all the building amenities (sauna, pool, fitness room, gym, party room, restaurants, visitor parking). Everything in the apartment is new or renovated so there is no need for repairs but just in case I will cover the costs.


Note that the apartment is a private property, already paid in full and NO mortgage on it. The surrounding area is great. Schools and groceries near-by. I'm sure you will have everything that you need there because is one of the most important areas in the city. Pets and children are allowed in the building. Now about me: I'm a structural engineer and I work for MWH Global Engineering, I'm 45 years old, married with 2 children. I worked hard to have a good career and I really respect hard earned money. The company I work for they have projects all around the world so most of my time I'm traveling. The apartment will be available for the next 6 years for sure. I want to rent the place on my own because it's a private property therefore I need to send you the keys and the papers. I'm sure we can find a way for both of us to be satisfied.

This is a quote from Con Warner.

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam.

Seems like I'm not the only who's almost fallen for this scam. Thanks to all those who posted, saved me lots of cash. Also, paytorent.com seems like a pretty legit site as per the emails sent, pretty impressive what scammers will do for a few bucks. This guy was very pursuasive and seems to have done this before. I talked to him on the phone before sending cash and he was very reassuring of the process. After I go the confirmation emails about sending wire transfer, he called me twice! what a schmuck.

Anyways, here are all the messages he sent. hopefully this guy gets what he deserves:

Email 3 -- at this point i've said i'm ready to proceed with transaction--

You will only have to deposit to PAYtoRENT the first month of rent from contract and damage deposit 670 $ + 670 $ = 1340 $ CAD so they can proceed with the shipping, and you can receive the rental package (keys and documents). I will pay for a 2 days delivery so you will receive the keys and the contract signed by me right away. I will explain you step by step how this process will work:

1 - To start the process all I need is your full info(full name, address and a cell phone number).
2 - I will go at PAYtoRENT to deposit the keys and the contract on your name as the intended receiver.
3 - PAYtoRENT will check the package to see if everything is in order and also the legal papers that will come along with the keys and proof of ownership with their Real Estate Professional Department in London. They will also confirm with the building manager that I'm the legal owner of the apartment I'm renting to you.
4 - PAYtoRENT will send you a delivery notification to let you know they have the keys and the papers in their custody in which you will also have all the payment instructions to complete the wire transfer to the PAYtoRENT bank account .

Please post the email header of the mail that requested you to pay to the Bank Account. We have a source that will need this information to attempt a closure on the account. Once closed or frozen other victims may be able to get their money back. To find headers of an email look at my signature. There is a link for that information.
