Rental scammer - [email protected]

He is at it again. He just scammed some friends of mine, claiming to rent out a house for this weeekends's ND MSU game in South Bend. Here is the ad.

This soulless con artist has a pretty low trick. He places adds on Craigslist in major college cities, all over the country, every weekend. Claiming to be a rental agent that manages vacation homes for a wealthy physician. He collects deposits ($600 a pop) on places he does not own. It adds up to tens of thousands of dollars in a weekend, cheating people who show up to their weekend rental home to find out they have been had. His alias is Nick Petterson and his email address is [email protected]. Please call to harass him at 619 630 1881. He is so ballsy. When I accused him of misrepresenting himself, he wrote "I have been renting out this property for over 6 years and have never had problems with doing my job professionally, i am a man of honor and integrity." Beware. And feel free to email him repeatedly from different addresses to tell him how interested you are. I guarantee you he will have availability.

Be cautious about inciting people to harass people to do things that could constitute a criminal offence. Third parties wouldn't be able to prove he's a criminal and it would make matters worse if someone who may be engaged in criminal activity engages the police to act to prosecute people who do what you say. It's very frustrating and irritating but criminals have no morals and it might even enable them to blackmail those who do as you suggest.

One thing that would be helpful would be to know whether or not he's using the same bank account or a different one. It's more sensible and effective to expose the activities of scammers and collect and pass on details of their scams in case law enforcement can take action.

Almost fell for this scam. Rod Jefferson [email protected]. Almost exact scam. I was looking for a place in Killington VT. It sounded like a really good deal, too good to be true. This guy has to be making a killing because he has these ads for places all over the country. I hope my post will stop someone from getting scammed.
