This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.
Sounds safe. It's not!
At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.
In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.
All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.
If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

I will be willing to rent my apartment only if you can assure me you can take very good care of my apartment for me in my absence.
My apartment is available and ready to move in. Also, the apartment is available for both long term or short term, because I am presently am in the UK working which is the exact reason why I am renting out my apartment.
Also, the furniture remains in the apartment except of course you want to bring yours.
You can go over to my apartment address and see it but you wont gain full entrance into the apartment because its locked and am here

For us to proceed, we will sign a rental agreement contract, this is normal and will stand as an agreement between us.
The contract will be prepared by my Lawyer here and signed by me. I will email the contract to you for you to also view and sign also.
After this, you will make the payment of first month plus deposit(which is refundable), and I will be mailing the keys to you via dhl
which you will receive within a day or two as long the address to mail the keys to you is valid. I will also make sure I scan the copy of my
passport and send it along with the contract.
