This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

I typed in his address after he changed the name of who I should be sending the money to. He even said it was his lawyer like he's told so many other people . This mom is mad!!!! And I hope someone catches this guy. Now since he tried to screw me my family and I are going to be staying in a hotel when we move because we were planning on moving here. Other names he's going by are Chris Daniel and Jose Ramirez.

He used [email protected] and initially we We're contacting him at this number 7025502704. He told us he was a project manager which required him to move a lot without notice. His current job took him to Nigeria in which I guess his wife went with him and left they're fully furnished house behind. He said his job would keep him there for three to four years. It even matched when he said he was interested to see how tidy we keep the place. He then later said to contact him on a different number but my husband already deleted it. We found him on trulia and I thought this website would be more trustworthy than something like Craigslist. We were wrong. Even after I sent him a screen shot of his exposed scam. He continued to email me and assure me he is a man of God. "Who reigns? God. " He was playing on our faith and trust. He then again sent me his western union info. Is he serious?

And might I add normally we would go and meet land lords but we were moving from out of town and really had to trust we were going to get what we paid for since we could not travel to all the open houses. A simple meet and greet would require ten hours minimum round trip. I shouldn't have to be suspicious that everyone is trying to rip me off
