I would first like to thank you for the interest you have shown in my apartment, my wife is willing to come over to Victoria so that you can view the apartment since am out of town due to my work.

The agent will finally handover the transaction slip to you which will contain the transaction details (which you'll handover to my wife on the day of visit in exchange for the apartments' keys) after signing the rents' contrat.
Note that the exchange "received against the apartment keys will only take place if and only if you are satisfied with the visit. Eventually If you were not satisfied (something I doubt a lot due to the condition of my apartment
NB: The prepared transaction does not signify that you're sending me money, but it is the perfect proof that you are serious about renting the apartment. I decided to proceed this way because my wife had to travel this distance from TOPLEY to VICTORIA only to find out that the individual wasn't there (an unserious person indeed).
Kindly confirm your agreement so that I can send you my complete details for you to prepare the transaction.
During the visit and signing of the contract, below are the documents you'll provide:
- Recent pay stubs (if employed)
- A receipt of the last rent
- Photocopy of your ID or driver's license or passport
- The payment transact receipt of one months' rent and one month deposit which equals $ 1.200

The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by wire transfer (normally Western Union) to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".
Another variation of this scam is that you need to send (by Western Union) money in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you
He will ask you to send him the transfer details.
Make no mistake ! Western Union Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.
If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union before viewing, then it will also be a scam.
