Room for Rent and other rental scams

Here's one in Calgary, saw it a few times in kijiji (912 - 6 Avenue Southwest, AB T2P 3E5). His name this time is David Musil ([email protected]).

I'm still talking to him, I kind of want to see how he will play it out because he said I won't have to pay until I see the apartment. Sadly it sounded all very true for a while so now he knows my name and address :/ sucks...

Good luck everyone, never pay until you see the thing you're paying for :)
Hey,

Thank you for your interest in my apartment located in 912 - 6 Avenue Southwest, AB T2P 3E5. The apartment is in excellent condition and it's just like in the pictures, very clean and very well taken. Honestly from point of view I'm sure that you will rent it on spot. I'm not looking to make a business or a profit with the apartment, I'm just trying to find a good and trust person to take good care of the place. It is furnished but if you want you can use your furniture and deposit mine in the storage unit that is located near the building not far away. The rent is 650 CAD/month with everything included (heat, hydro, water, electricity, cable and internet-full package, 2 parking spots, laundry in-suite, washer and dryer). You will have full access to all the amenities of the building. Pets are allowed. I stayed in the apartment with my wife for 3 months. I'm a civil engineer and I work for a company that has an auction for a project in construction in London, United Kingdom, so my accommodation period in United Kingdom will be about 4 years. Everything in the apartment is new so there will be no need for repairs.

Thank you and look forward hearing from you!
David

PS : I attached you all the pictures that I have with the apartment (as you can see everything is in absolutely perfect condition)

Welcome to Scamwarners ab1234,

You should stop all contact with the scammer/criminal. He has your real life information. We already know how this will play out. He will tell you to send money to a friend, family member or even yourself until you view the property. This is to make you believe that you are safe. In reality the scammer will pick up the money.

Michelle writes:
This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram to an escrow company with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.

Sounds safe. It's not!
The emails claiming to be from the company are fake.

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.
