It would appear they are still at it, although they have changed their message slightly. Here is a posting from just a couple days ago and the email I got when I sent an inquiry about the apartment. The ad was on Craigslist: http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/abo/4317634248.html

The kitchen has new counters. You will get one parking spot. I allow smoking. It's in a great location as it's only 4 blocks from the subway line. Lease can be short or long term.

There were multiple pictures posted as well and let me tell you, this place was nice!!! The apartment was fully furnished and looked like it should have been priced AT LEAST 3-4 times the advertised price. Anyway I sent in the email and this is the response I got from "[email protected]".

Hello,

How's your day going? The good news is that the apartment is still available! We thought we had the place rented to a couple we showed it to today, but now it seems that they changed their mind, so we need to lease it as soon as possible. You were the second one to respond regarding it.

I am sure you will want to do a personal showing of the property, but my husband doesn't want me to advertise the address as a measure of safety. Last time we did that without verifying people, it was broken into and vandalized. We don't want that to happen again! You will be responsible for cable, internet, and phone, if you decide to have these services. Just to confirm, we DO allow pets at this property. The rental term is 12 month lease, but can be switched into a 6-month term if preferred. We require one month notice before moving out, as a courtesy.

When you're ready for a personal appointment, then please go to the link below and grab your free credit score. All of our tenants use this site because Transunion is widely trusted. Just fill out the form and indicate that you want the score. What is in the report isn't important to us, it's more of a formality to have it on file, to make sure there are no previous property related issues. You can get your free credit score at CLICK HERE

Keep in mind that we are only interested in the page about the rental history. That will be all you will need to bring with you to the showing. We typically waive the security deposit with a score of 560+.

Please let me know when you grab your credit history. I can then schedule you for a walk through of the place. I know that you'll love it!

Thanks again,
Sarah Andrews

I clicked on the link and immediately could tell the website was a forgery. I am a graphic designer who knows websites very well, Thank God, so I did not proceed any further and quickly exited out of that site and ran a scam search on it which popped with with A LOT of hits about the site being a scam.
