Hello,
Thank you for your interest in my apartment rent, and I'm sorry that I contacted you in English, but I don't speak German. The apartment is located in: Ottostraße 16, 80330 München, Germany.
At first, I want to introduce myself personally, My name is Edgar Will Schmit and I'm 54 years old Management Consultant in Coventry / United Kingdom. I was born in Germany but I live since 1964 in Coventry with my parents.
The apartment I inherited from my grandfather who died 2 years ago. I live here in Coventry with my family and we don’t use the apartment from Germany. This is the reason that I decide to rent him. Apartment is situated on the first floor and have 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom, 1-kitchen and 1-living room, 1 Garage and was renovated in November 2012, it is newly furnished and equipped with all the utilities ( washing machine, air conditioning, internet and phone, etc.). Also the apartment is near the public transportation, a gym, and other facilities. There are no problems if you have any pets, as long as you clean up after them. The apartment has a parking space for one car. My request is that you treat it like it was your own. I am not interested to make a lot of money from the rent as I am interested to find a tenant that will take good care of the property , because it’s all that I have from my grandfather.
You can use my furniture, or you can also use your own if you prefer. If you decide to use yours, you can store my furniture in the large basement cellar. Also, very important, all the bills for hot water, cold water, gas, heat, electricity, cable TV, internet access are included in the rent of 405 Euro. The security deposit ( Kautin ) is 215 Euro and you will get it back when you will move out (I will need a 30 days notice). Unfortunately, my job does not let me go, even for a single day, so I will not be able to come and meet you personally for a while.
However, this won’t affect the rental at all. I can make arrangements to have a real estate agency to handle everything for me.
I would like to know how many persons you intend to share the flat with, and for how long.
Any other details about yourself would be appreciated.
Friendly greetings from the United Kingdom!
This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram to an escrow company with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.
Sounds safe. It's not!
The emails claiming to be from the company are fake.
At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.
In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.
All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.
If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
