Hi rbb81,
do not be harsh on yourself
As they have a copy of your ID, you should notify the police: bring driving license and emails exchanged with scammers, and explain to the police the whole situation. Then try your best to have something written from them stating that you reported that your ID is potentially exposed to fraudulent use.
Administrator note: In most cases, a scammer will not re-use ID sent to them. There is also nothing law enforcement can do if a scammer simply has a copy of your ID. It is not necessary to go to the police. -Jillian
Beside this, there is no real problem: if you just stop contacting scammers (and this is crucial), they will realize that you are not going to pay a cent anymore, thus they may opt to ignore you and move on the next (potential) victim.
Beware that as you have fallen to this kind of scam, you could be on several scammers' lists, thus you may receive more scam emails in the future. Moreover, do not trust anyone who claims can retrieve your money: they are likely operating a "recovery scam".
You have a PM.
If you have any doubt do not hesitate to post here
