Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Dotti Sun Jan 17, 2010 1:48 pm
Welcome Schoen,

As Michelle said, posting the scammer's emails helps even more, especially ones that mention their websites or custom email domains. Every script posted improves the odds that a victim will be prevented from losing money.

Writershand--
One of the main reasons scammers sometimes use attachments instead of putting their text in an email is to make sure it gets through. Many email filters now look for scam keywords as well as spam keywords, and emails identified as spam or scam are automatically deleted or put in a separate folder that most users don't bother to read. The filters can't search PDF attachments for the keyword indicators, so the email is much more likely to land where he wants it to--in the victim's inbox.

I recieved the exact same email from the Rudolfs, now I know its a scam. How do we report this?

Welcome lauriejean.1

I hope that you have found out about this scam before you lost any money.

If the e-mail address that the scammer is using isn't mentioned in this thread could you please post an e-mail that includes his details, but before posting ensure that your own details are masked like this "XXXXXXXX"

This will let any other potential victims searching for the details find them here.

Hi Everyone

I have recently posted you about an au pair scam, by a person/persons calling themselves the Rudolf Family. Since then you have helped me identify them as scammers using a site called "gallerygroup-uk.net" as verification of their employment. The site has been flagged as a scam site for the past 4 years and has changed it's domain 3 times already. However...yesterday I got a reply from the Rudolf Family, saying that they have chosen me as the au pair they would love to use, but would have to speak to their family lawyer first to draw up a contract of employment. I am interested to see how far this can go before I get enough evidence that this is indeed a scam, but I want your opinion. Should I continue communications with the "family" in hopes of exposing more details about the scammer and post them regularly, or should I end all communications. Please see below the email they sent:

Assuming you are contacting them using your personal details then you should drop them.

What you are doing is called baiting and is covered extensively on our sister site 419Eater. There you will find lots of advice on how to bait safely.

You can always start rebaiting this particular scammer from a new anonymous email account.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Hi Alan

Thank you so much for giving me the advice, it was really helpful coming from a more experienced scam watcher. I only thought about it since I was so upset about these people being able to do this to people and get away with it just like that. As advised I think it best then to simply end communications with these people.

Thank You
The Writer

Hi! I Have got the exactly same mails from "the Rudolf family" and even that kind of answer(below) although I told them that I'm not willing to become their au pair (because I knew it was scam). And I have got four other scam mails which I have posted to here, scamwarners. Actually, given your hallmarks of imposters, It's quite easy to identify them. (Huge salary, "family lawyer", they answer constantly, poor English, many "documents", +4470 or something phone number and so on.)But, this is really frustrating and also makes me really suspicious to every family. My trust in every family is right now really flaccid. That's not nice to feel but maybe it protects me...

We have selected you!?

Welcome to Scamwarners nop.

The scammer hopes to benefit by victims "falling for" his lies and sending fees by anonymous wire transfer.

The job is "fake" as are all the details in the scammers mail.

Also note telephone used +4470 = UK redirect service to any cellphone worldwide and favoured by scammers.

My best advice is to cease all communications with this scammer.

Please see this guide http://www.scamwarners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=3019

This is where the scammer intends to get money from you--there will be fees required to get your certificate/documents. Note the fake government address, which is completely unrelated to the government, and was conveniently registered last week. One of our skilled site killers should be able to get that fake domain shut down.

There is nothing that you need to do. If you would like, email the scammer and tell him you are no longer interested, then just drop him. Block his email address, and ignore any future emails. It is possible that whine, argue, or even threaten you, but it's all bluff and the best thing to do is ignore him.
