Hi there rubymae balatico, welcome to scamwarners.

You've given us very little information to work with, could you please post some of his emails? We can have a better look at it then :)

I have done a search on the email adress and the first hit links to an anti-scammer forum. Secondly, from what you tell us I believe he is referring you to a travel agency? And without a doubt, that travel agency told you they will help you obtain a visa? This is a classic scheme of a scammer.

I advise you to stop communicating with these people, as I'm fairly sure they are scammers. You could post up their emails to verify it, but I actually have no doubts. Stop mailing to them, and ignore all future emails. :)

Hello rubymae,

Michael is correct - a genuine family will not refer you to a travel agency.

No travel agency can obtain a visa or a work permit for you; nor will they arrange any other document for you. If you need to purchase your own flight tickets, then you must do that in your own country, for yourself, and not through any travel agency you are directed to by the potential host family.

If you are looking for an au pair job in the UK, please contact the British Embassy in your own country to check UK entry requirements. You can find the genuine British Embassy website by Google searching 'British Embassy' and the name of your country. Note that a genuine British Embassy email address will always end with @fco.gov.uk (and with no words or abbrieviations after that).

Please do post here the emails you have received, and we will be able to confirm that this is a scam.

I'm glad that you were suspicous about this!
