Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by eccu_gemini Sun Mar 06, 2011 8:42 pm
HI,
hello everyone.... I WAS A VICTIM OF MAKE BELIEVE SCAM....There's no money involved here, so you would really think that you were dealing with the right person. By the way, I am referring to a AUPAIR job.
JESSICA HOUSTON, as host family wrote me and told me that she was looking for a nanny. At first i ignore her because i thought she was a scammer. She told me everything... send me pictures, home address and even add her as a friend in facebook. She didn't ask anything from me, she knew that the host family will answer all the expenses in processing all the papers. i even checked her name and found out that i was clean. we exchanged emails for over a month because i was really hoping that i finally found a true host family. I never suspected her and really trust her. She make me believe that everything was going right that i will be working with them soon.
Until that day that she disappear. I really believe that i can go and work aborad... My family knew about this and were very excited that finally i can go and work abroad. Everything was SET.
By the way its hard to say this like this... IF you allow me to send her messages to you I will so that it will be also a warning to others that I know shes doing it right now...

thanks,
eccu_gemini

That's the last time we talked... we chatted later that evening just to clarify that I need to be ready because anytime the documents will be here soon and need to present it to the embassy for them to give me a Visa..
But, Nothing came.... I was a victim of MAKE BELIEVE SCAM...
I am writing this to all of you and also to stop these people for doing it again. And also I would like to appeal to those people concerned, because they know me a lot, my address, email add and telephone number and even they had my signature, they might use it bad. I was so depressed and disappointed because of this bad things happened to me.

Thanks you and more power.

Welcome here eccu_gemini.

Thank you for posting this scammer, and all the emails you got from him. When these scammers think that the au pair they are writing to doesn't have much money, then the scammer will pretend that the host family is paying for most of the costs. But later there will always be some other fee to be payd by the au pair.
When you want to work in a foreign country as an au pair, please check with the embassy of that country if that is possible. Most countries have very strict rules about foreign au pairs.

edit: Could you also post one of the headers from these emails? It all seems so familiar, but all the email addresses are new, but it could be a known scammer. If you don't know how to get headers, just ask.

Being a victim doesn't mean you stand alone. We're here to help you.

I belived her and the agency.I saw Jessica on webcam.I received all the same messages eccu_gemini.In the end I realised that all was fake.
Photos didn'tt correspond with those from facebook page after a period she changed photos. She claimed to send $ 350 through an address in western Texas. I regret that I believed scam, she said she will pay for airline tickets and all taxes. I haven't sent any money, but it was very stressful for me.
