Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Chris Fuller Thu Mar 24, 2011 6:15 pm
This is a scam. The au pair position does not exist, and neither does the apartment to rent.

The scammer who is sending these emails actually lives in Nigeria, not the UK, and pretends to be many different people. You can read about some of these other scams here:

I am very much interested in you and i want you to be the next aupair for my child. I am living in United Kingdom and my name is Vanessa Lauger, i am a Journalist and i am a very busy person as i work very hard to ensure a better life and feature for my only child. I have one child and her name is Jenny. Jenny is a shy girl and she likes sport, she is intelligent and funny and i am sure you will really enjoy your stay with her. I want you to start working as soon as possible cause i will be going for a contract soon and i can't leave Jenny all alone, that is why i want you to arrive in UK for the job as soon as possible. You will be treated as part of our family from the moment you arrive in United Kingdom and your duty is just taking sole charge of Jenny and making sure she is in a good state of health at all time, you will also take Jenny to school every morning and do some house cores when necessary.
I am satisfied with your response and i definitely believe you will be a good companion for my child. Our main priority is for you to be a friendly and kids loving person and with all i have read of you so far i believe you are.
I will like you to confirm the arrival date better and let me know of that in due time so that i can also plan our schedule ahead to pick you up at the airport when you arrived. Mind you try and choose a weekend arrival so that i can be well available to give you every support necessary.
Once again your salary is £1,500 monthly and you will also be paid £145 weekly pocket money. i have decided to offer you a very high salary to enable you pay rent and municipal charges and also have some saving while living in London.
As for your stay duration we hope to sign a six months contract with you for a start and extend the contract if we are satisfied with your services and if your are also willing to continue working with our family but it is okay if you wish to sign less duration agreement.
Waiting your immediate reply.
Cheers

I quite understood your commitment to join our family and care for my kid but we don't have a provision for a live-in accommodation which seems not suitable for you because my brother lives with us and i am sure you might not be comfortable with it.
I have actually included a rent and other municipal charges in your salary and that is why your salary is a bit high. In case you want us to scout for a shared accommodation for you we can do so through the same estate caretaker that secure our home in Gloucester and get back to you. So do confirm if a shared flat will be fine for you so that we can ask for its availability from the estate caretaker immediately.
Waiting to read from you.
Cheers

Thanks for the response, i will contact the estate agent about any available shared flat in my area and i will let you know as soon as i hear from the estate agent about the apartment.
Cheers

Sorry for getting back to you a little bit late and this is because i am trying to ensure that the estate caretaker get you an affordable and conducive shared flat.
We did make few contacts on shared flat apartment in Gloucester and with the list of prizes given i think one of the cheapest of all we got cost about £93 weekly and rent are expected to be paid in advance. With the description given we understood it's comfortable because we were told it has a bed, an internet, tv, refrigerator, gas cooker and a bathroom.
The fact is that at the moment i can't negotiate any apartment further in advance per se, since we are yet to affirm your consent on it and more so because we understood the issue of accommodation it's a first come first serve thing and their is no way we can secure one for you without your full readiness.
So do let me know if the prize is okay with you and in case you need any further information on the flat let me know as well so that i can verify more and also connect you with the estate caretaker in charge.
Waiting your immediate reply.

Regarding the accommodation, i told you in the previous email that the estate caretaker found a nice shared flat and the rent is 93pounds weekly. The estate caretaker told me that the rent must be paid in advance and immediately because there are other tenants intersted in renting the apartment and the first person to pay for it will have the room. Hence, you have to send the rent deposit to the esate caretaker immediately so that he can secure the room for you before it is let out to another tenant.
Inform me as soon as you have send the rent deposit to the estate caretaker so that i can visit the room to arrange it in case there are anything that needs to be fixed and keep it tidy before you arrive.
Hope to hear from you soonest possible.
Cheers

This scammer may instead offer live-in accommodation, and give the email address of a Migration Expert. This Migration Expert is also fake, and will not obtain any documents for anyone.
