Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Chris Fuller Mon Mar 28, 2011 4:16 am
This is not a genuine au pair opportunity; it is a scam. This scammer also calls himself Mr Moore:

viewtopic.php?f=34&t=17104

Notice also that the phone numbers begin with +4470. Telephone numbers which begin with +4470 or +44070 are not normal UK telephone numbers. They are 'redirect' numbers which redirect all calls to a mobile phone elsewhere in the world. You can read more about this here:

Here is a different introductory email sent from the scammer calling himself Dr Alan Reid:

subject Your profile was shortlisted from aupair4you.eu

Dear Au Pair,

We are a fun loving, happy and very busy family consisting of mum
Jocelyn, dad Alan and a son. Theo is 6 and does Kick Boxing & Rugby.
He loves swimming, riding their bikes and going to the park. In the
summer he loves splashing in the paddling pool and bouncing on the
trampoline - activities you HAVE to join in with! He is well behaved
and polite - most of the time! We are not a family who sits in front
of the TV all the time although we do sit and watch a movie or TV show
as a family sometimes and the kids have favorite DVD's. Father
Christmas brought us a Wii which is already having an impact on our
leisure time! We live a hectic life and need someone to join our
family and help out. We live in the beautiful town of London. It is a
very cosmopolitan town with fantastic shopping, lots of cafes and bars
& lots of Au Pairs. There is really good leisure and sports
facilities, swimming pools, an Arts center and Theater and we are
right on the edge of Windsor Great Park - 5000 acres of the Queens
back garden! There is a college within walking distance if you need to
attend language classes - in fact everything is pretty much within
walking distance - although we have a bicycle you are welcome to use
and if you drive we may provide you with a car depending on your age.
We are looking for someone with a genuine love of children who is
sunny and happy! You must be a non smoker.. We are not looking for a
lodger or another child but for someone who will join in some family
activities but also be independent and a little adventurous! We can
introduce you to other Au pairs and show you round - this is a
fantastic place to live...

You will have a lovely comfortable room with a desk and wireless
internet; we have a family computer if you don’t have your own. Kindly
contact me via my email: [email protected] or you can call me on
+44 7024010721. Kindly send us your resume (CV) for perusal and we
will get back to you with our contract offer. Cheers and write us
soon.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Further to SuzzyQue22s post

We live in a four bedroom house in 2 New Bond Street Mayfair Wis, London, United Kingdom

This address does not exist as a house, it is a large office and retail block, T.M.Lewin, Jewelers, Clothing, Lawyers etc.

Also, the Wis in the address should read W1S, for Westminister.

It is extremely unlikely that there would be a stand alone 4 bedroom house with swimming pool etc in the heart of Londons main retail and shopping district,

To verify, use google earth and post the address in the search bar.

This a scam.

I hope you are doing great? The content of your mail has been noted.
Thank you for your mail which shows your seriousness in my job offer
and my wife and I appreciate that a lot. .I own my own firm and my
wife is a health worker. I am a soccer fan, I love Arsenal so much. I
also love watching Barcelona and Real Madrid. My wife loves reading
novels and baking. My son loves basketball and we have a little hoop
in our backyard and we hope you can play with him. We would want to
know when it would be convenient for you to join us. You will not be
working on weekends because my wife and I do not during the weekends
unless in really special circumstances and it’s only then you will be
required to look after my child. We almost always take Theo to school
in the mornings and so need someone to pick him up after school most
afternoons at 3.15pm.He goes to a nearby school and it is 15 minute
walk away. You will need to make tea for him - and us occasionally if
you would like! You need to keep his room tidy, make his bed, dust and
& change the sheets weekly. You need to do his ironing and keep his
clothes neat and tidy. You need to supervise homework and piano
practice and most of all HAVE FUN! We are usually home by 6. I will be
helping you with the cost of some of your travel papers and I will be
paying your flight ticket for your trip to London.

We are looking for someone to muck in and help out generally as any
member of the family would. You will need to babysit a couple of times
a week and also be happy about us popping back to work in the evening
if you are at home anyway. We need someone to be flexible - as we will
be if you would like to take time off if your family visits or you
have a holiday. When we go on holiday as a family you will usually be
welcome but we can also arrange for you to stay home of you prefer.

Kindly get back to me with your updated CV for perusal so I can have
my lawyer prepare our Contract Offer which will include details of your
salary and accommodation.
