David Romms Almost Got Me> [email protected]

While Checking my email one day, I received a message from a Mr. David Romms about a nanny job. He stated that he was referred to me by several websites that I was familiar with and then explained the Job description. The email looked like this:

My name is David Romms and I am 40 years of age.I got your contact

from a UK website that is affiliated to some nanny sites in USA.

I am a lecturer in NETWORKING here in the UK.I will be coming

over to the united states for 4 years for my PHD program.

My major is Global Area Network.

Likewise i will also be doing a which is titled (IEEE PROJECT 802).

This involves a

succession of terrestrial Wireless local area networks (WLAN).

These project and all other expenses would be financed by an

American insurance firm .

The main reason why I need a nanny is that I have 2 lovely kids who

would need proper attention due to the fact that i would be very

busy with my project and research.

The names of my kids are Junior (9th of June 2006)5years and

Michelle (9th of May 2007)4years.I lost their mum 10/10/09, she died

of Cancer.

However, i would fully arrival New York April ending,

so your job

would commence immediately .

Furthermore, I am going to give you your own personal car and a driver

to take yourself and the kids around but if you know how to drive then

there will be no need for a driver .

sponsoring me so that they can out a contract between my family and

After I replied to the information that was not revealing, Seeing as how I am not stupid and I knew that there could be scams. I received an email stating the following:

Hello Martha, (Martha isn't my name. . . but with scams the way they are, lets just say it is.)

how are you doing today, and am happy that you are willing to accept

the offer of taking care of my kids and I

am pretty sure that we are very nice family to work with and we will

definitely treat you well.

A private apartment agent in the united state is already in

search of a lovely apartment for me in

Rockland County which i

would arrive in when i get to the united states on the 3rd week

in April and then work would start that same week .

I will provide a car and a driver for yourself and the kids and it is left

to you to choose if you are going to drive yourself around or you will need

the driver.

Your job will start from 9am-6pm,5days a week ,but the hours are flexible

and if you wish to

make adjustment just let me know because you will not be doing much when the

kids are in school.

The pay will be 20dollars/her .The reason why i will be paying this is

because we pay our nanny here 14pounds and when i made the conversion to

dollars ,it falls around 20dollars . Just let me know if you are okay with

this or if there is need for adjustment.

Saturday and Sunday would be your work free days, a live in position or

live out position is okay but if you wish to

live in your privacy is secured. And a relocation fee will be made to that

effect if you choose to live in but if you wish to live out that is

also fine.

The family do have monthly outing and the end of each month .

I will need you to help me rent a van that would come pick us up at the

airport on the 16th April 2011 due to number of luggage that we will be

bringing to the states and 400dollars will be made available for this by my

financier and you will not need to use your personal money for this errand

I read this email and said one of a few things. .
1. I didn't know he was moving into the same county I lived in, he didn't say that before
2. I never accepted the job, anad he thanked me for accepting it.
3. He still hasn't asked for an interview

With these things in mind, I send this David Romms a followup email stating that I wanted to run a background check on him and I was sure he'd want to do the same on me seeing as how I will be caring for his children and what not. I told him that I was not replying with any personal information, other than my name which I shouldn't have even given without a background check for the safety of both of us.

That is when he sent me this email:


Hello Martha

how are you doing today and hope you had a lovely day ,

Junior has a dog that he

loves so much and he named the dog LACY , and most of the time

they are together when he gets back from school

He is friendly and has a lot of

friends in school but the name of his best friend his Timmy.

Timmy is our neighbor any they attend the same school

(Our Lady's RC Primary School London). I would also prefer if the kids

can attend a catholic school when we arrive USA.The kids share a lot

in common,Timmy would really

miss Junior when we leave the UK for the states .I am really

sure of that cause they prefer to wear the same clothes

when they have special outing and they both love chocolates

, biscuits , cakes,

pizzas and games.

Arsenal his is favorite

club and he supports them always whenever they have a match.

Michelle is just a little girl , she is allergic to pollen and grains she is

very jovial and our nanny (Pamela) here in UK

really loves her , we call her Pamela's daughter .

Junior and Michelle attend

the same school.

I would send you the pictures of my family in my next email an also

your schedules.

WHAT!! RITA??? Who's that??? Oh, I see, it's a mass email sent out to everyone who is stupid or naive enough to reply to it. Rita, Martha, Dana, anyone who will accept the Job I guess.
Oh yes and I was sent pictures of his loving family and his two cars??? lol wow.

So not to mention the crazy amount of typo's that occurred several times, This just wasn't right.


It's just sickening how people try to scam people in need of employment like this..

I would say that this is about 20X worse than the pyramid scheme.

Oh... He also attached pictures of his family and his car?? lol. my bad, his 2 cars.

This just shows how you really cannot trust anyone. WOW.
