Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Sucumi Sun May 29, 2011 9:28 am
Dear all,

I have received an email in which I was offered an au pair job. There were some details that made me suspect (I was never called by my name, or the telephone number was suspictious i.e.) but the most important is that "Mr. Green" told me he and his family live in (I copy and paste) No 12 Glandale Gardens, Low Fells, Gateshead, NE 9 5SA UK and that his wife works as a nurse in London. I am not stupid and have knowledges of Geography (even living out of UK) and I know Gateshead is a long way from London so I started to investigate.
The result is that they are giving a nearer address from the supposed company where "Mr. Green" works. The company is real but I am not sure if they do know about someone is using their address for this scam, probably not, so as soon as I finish to leave this scam warn here I will send them a mail for their info.
I copy and paste every e-mail sent and received for your information hoping it will be useful for everybody. (Excuse me because I do not want my address appears so I have deleted it from the text below) (Remember that you have to read it from the bottom to the top)
Regards.

Welcome to Scamwarners. The 4470 number that will transfer calls to another phone anywhere in the world is a sure sign of a scam/
(Excuse me because I do not want my address appears so I have deleted it from the text below)

That's fine as we don't want personal info posted. A moderator would have deleted it if you hadn't.

The email address given for the UK Home Office (Border Agency) in this email is not a genuine email address for the UK Home Office; it is another email address belonging to this scammer.

You can see the genuine UK Home Office Border Agency email addresses here:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/about ... ctcentres/

Please notice that the genuine UK Home Office Border Agency email addresses end with @ukba.gsi.gov.uk - and with no words or abbreviations after that.

It is a scam.

That letter was clearly not written by someone British. The mistakes point squarely to an African author. In addition there are some serious inconsistencies--for example, British schools generally do not have kindergarten. If they did, though, a child old enough to attend school would not need changing, as he would no longer be in diapers.

What will most likely happen is that "David" (which is not his real name) will not ask for money, but the "agency" or the "home office" (which will be fake, and will be the same scammer or an accomplice) will demand some kind of fees.
