Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Chris Fuller Sat Jul 09, 2011 3:40 am
This is a scam, and the au pair position does not really exist.

If you are looking for an au pair position in the USA, please read these US Government webpages about the US Au Pair Program:

http://exchanges.state.gov/jexchanges/p ... upair.html

http://j1visa.state.gov/participants/how-to-apply/

Do not send money to any agency, embassy, lawyer, or other person introduced to you by a potential host family.

I am sorry you were scammed, James. Sadly, you are not alone. If you look around here, many people have been victims of the same type of scams.

We are actually very careful what we post here, and the post above is accurate. We try to make it clear throughout the forums here that scammers never use their own names. (I can guarantee that Lana Smith is not the scammer's real name either.) They either make up names or steal information from real people. However, the only way to stop them is to post the names and information they are using.

Unfortunately, however they got the information, this scammer is sending the emails posted above to unsuspecting young people who want to become au pairs. They are using these emails to steal money by promising opportunities that don't exist.

We will continue to post such scams, even if the scammer has used a person's real name, because it is necessary to alert potential victims. Since the person behind these scams is probably the person who scammed you or an accomplice, hopefully you can take some consolation in knowing that posting the scammer's format will keep some money out of the scammer's pocket, and either reduce or eliminate their income!
