No, and anyone telling you that you need one is a scammer.

It is a fake document made up by scammers. (There is such a thing as an affidavit, but it is something completely unrelated to au pair requirements.)

They tell you that you don't have to pay if you have this, because they think that it makes them look like they aren't only after your money. But they also know you won't have this document--because it doesn't exist. So then they can go ahead and tell you that you have to pay money, because you don't have the document.

Could you please post the emails from this scammer?

Dear Aupair,

Many more thanks for the interest you've shown to me and my kids, I
was very happy when I read your email, sorry for the late reply due to
the nature of my Job.

Let me use this medium to introduce myself and my family as i was not
opportune to do that in my previous email.

I'm a British by Citizen my mum from Philippines Dad British. like i
said in my last email i lost my Husband months back, Its been very
hard for me looking after my kids. my mum has been looking after the
kids and taking care of the House chores, that was why I decide to
employ a helper who would help out with some Domestic works and look
after the kids.

We live in a four bedroom house apartment in Great Manchester City UK
Address:107 Old hall lane , Manchester M14 6HL , and my son kelvin is
6years old while jade 4 years old both going to school.

My kids are very lovely and friendly, easy to get along with, they are
usually happy because I make sure i provide them anything they need at
any time because they are all i have and my happiness. So I am looking
for an Nanny/aupair to help me out with some house chores and also be
a big sister to the kids.

My kid means so much to me, I can afford to pay you 500 GBP per week
which will result to Two thousand GBP(two thousand pounds sterling)
monthly so that you can put in your best while caring for the kids.

I would like to know when you will be available because my Dad will be
retiring from his work and my mum who is taking care of the kid will
move back to our family house to look after dad.

I would appreciate the fact that you start work as soon as your entry
documents are ready, regarding the time factors with the Immigration,
It will be favorable if you can start work August or first week of
September 2011.

Your room is fully furnish in the family building with a Laptop and an
Internet Access which will enable you get on with your people via
email.

This job will be on a contract base, the visa type which will be
issued to you is would be for 2 years, with the legal procedures at
the UK Border Agency, I shall be standing as your host and sponsor.

Actually you will go into contract with my family as our new au pair,
We are willing to incur the expenses of your flight, entrance/visa
into the UK,Which we will not deduct any of the expenses from your
monthly salary.

But it must be on a mutual agreement that your name must be Sworn an
Affidavit of Oath at the British Crown Court before the commencement
on your visa endorsement/approval at the UK Home Office, as this is
due to our bad experience in inviting an au pair, after we secured her
entrance to UK, she arrived and never showed up again neglecting our
job, so we were advised by the employment experts to follow up with
this policy of Sworn Affidavit of Guarantee from the British Crown
Court for legal and security purposes, this issue of disappointment
from international aupair this has been happening constantly over the
years here in the UK,so an affidavit of Oath is an assurance from the
crown court to enable us fight against it.

No body will ask you for any money to process for your Visa into the
UK,including the agency that will be responsible for the processing of
your Visa over here in the UK because i receive some information from
immigration experts that some employers always ask the employee to pay
for the Visa proceedings over here in the UK,which i believe is not
acceptable in the British Governing policy, and employer has to be
responsible for the expenses regarding the Visa process of the
employee, except the Sworn Affidavit of Oath which will be incurred by
the employee for security purpose which will be reimburse upon the
employee arrival into the UK.

In willingness to accept this terms and conditions i list down your
job responsibilities for your acknowledgment.

1.Waking the Kid from bed.
2.preparing his meals
3.Dressing him up,taking and bring them back from school.
4.Cooking and also assisting in some house chores.
5.taking the kid out for shopping during weekends if necessary.

The Job responsibilities I think are well acknowledge and simple

Please write back so that we will prepare the Contract of Agreement if
you are in agreement with my stated terms, The Contract letter will be
binding this job between both parties you and I. and also I will give
you directives on how to summit the whole details needed for the
processing of your Visa to the contact of my family Immigration
Attorney who will be representing you here in UK in the processing of
your Visa at the UK Border Agency.

I await your receipt email upon the email sent to you.

Best regards,

Dorathy Mill.

Thanks for posting the email ruiaini

It is definitely a scam letter, the english is typical african, with grammar errors, and references.

Do not bother replying to it any further, all they will do is take money from you.

Welcome to Scamwarners. I'm not sure warning your neighbour is a good idea though. She'll only worry about it even though it won't cause her any problems.

Any unsolicited job offer you receive over the web without an interview for a UK company is a fake job scam. It is just not legally possible for a UK company to offer a non EEA national a job without an extensive recruitment and interview process.
There is no such thing as an affidavit of oath when applying for employment.
If you respond to this you will be asked to contact another company to process your visa. This is where the scam makes more money out of you.
I will not specify any details in the forum.
Please have nothing more to do with these people and beware of any future approaches by email, they are always a scam.
