by botheva Mon Aug 15, 2011 3:54 am
Hello!
I'm a hungarian girl and I would like to know this is a scam?

Carlos gabi Cruz:

Thanks for the response, we hope to move to our new home in Brent street, London in 2 weeks as soon as we confirm your commitment to work as the next aupair in my family.
We read your reply and once again we will like to repeat to you that we are looking for someone very friendly who is prepared to be part of our family and look after our 2 kids appropriately when we get to London. Your main task will be to care for our adorable kids, Peter and Lilian whose ages are 5 and 7 respectively. Occasionally you will do light household work like cleaning and ironing.
You will take Peter to and from Kindergarten and also to play dates. He would be at nursery for 3 mornings per week at least in the beginning but this will be reviewed.
Peter is easy going and only grumpy when tired. At the same time he needs a lot of attention. Although most of the time he is calm but he can be tricky and he always needs someone to say no whenever he's wrong.
The kids will have their playroom in the house which will have a TV and toys and to keep them relax you will have to encourage them to watch TV i.e. cartoon.
Lilian is a bit troublesome too but very controllable. She likes to sleep most times but only cry when hungry .
You will be working for 40 hours weekly and we hope to pay lb12 hourly plus bus ticket worth lb67 weekly and we will also provide you with a mobile phone with some inclusive minutes each month and the rest would be your responsibility. We also hope to provide you access to our cars if you have driving experience but not all the time.
We have already secured a home in Brent street, London and all other living arrangement are also intact at the moment and we hope to arrive in London at any date from now.
Your duties which we expect you to discharge perfectly are Getting kids out of bed for a 10 minutes morning exercise by 8am. Getting the kids dressed in the morning. Supervising her breakfast and lunch plus morning and afternoon snacks. Playing with her (age appropriate) to insure at least 60 minutes of exercise (can be split throughout the day). Doing education crafts & activities with her (age appropriate). Ensuring there optimal health and safety during your care. Keeping her room clean and organized. Doing laundry if necessary. Taking the kids to and from school and activities. Supervising play dates.
Do inform us in case you have any objections to this duties and suggesting what we can do about it.
I have not scan my pictures but i will try to do that soon and send them to you and i will like to know your exact arrival date.
Before we proceed further we will still like you to answer these few questions.
1) What is your nationality?
2) Have you ever traveled outside your home country before?
3) Have you much experience working with kid´s?
4) Do you smoke?
5) Do you drink?
6) Do you have brothers and sisters?
7) Do you Drive
8) Do you mind doing light cooking?
9) Can you help with shopping?
10) Can you help with housework?
Hope to hear from you soon.

It's a pity that the world as turn into a bosom of scam and it has make it difficult for us to distinguish good people from bad people on the internet, it has also make it difficult for me to find aupair on the internet since i was scammed by a so called aupair in the Philippines, but i come to realize that every body are not the same and that is why i am giving you a chance to work for me, so if you are interested in the job i want you to mail me back as soon as possible.
I want you to know that this is a legal proposal and i am giving you 100% assurance that you will not regret accepting my offer.

I want you to know that you do not have to pay all the expenses alone i want you to just let me know the amount you can afford and i will pay the rest. I want you to know that i can't pay for all your travel expenses due to my previous experience and you do not need to pay all the expenses alone either. Hence, i want you to just tell me the amount you can afford and i will pay the rest, i want you to know that you can pay any amount out of the amount the Law firm gave and i will pay the rest for you and this is just to show your seriousness and commitment to the job. so i want you to mail me as soon as possible with the amount you can afford and i will pay the rest for you immediately.
I can't just pay all the money for your travel like that, you will have to pay out of the money so that i will be sure that you are serious and that you are not here to waste my precious time and as soon as you are here in UK i will give you back the money you pay out to the travel company.
I want you to know that i have once payed all the money for a particular aupair from Philipines but the aupair did not show up in my family after the Visa was sent to her by the travel company so that is why you will have to pay out of the expenses for me to have trust in you and also to be sure you are serious about the job.
Hope to hear from you soon
Cheers

Thanks for the email, i want you to know that UK Travel Solicitors is in charge of the processing of your papers and they are in charge of processing all your travel and working papers including the Ticket and Visa. The travel agency will send you the contract form to be filled and send back to me for complete filling, so contact the travel agency for the processing of your papers and get back to me for further follow-up.

Hello botheva, and welcome to ScamWarners.

Yes, that is a scam. You can see a near-identical scam mail here:

from the scammer pretending to be called Rowland Luanne.

I have now had an opportunity to look at two of the emails sent by this scammer. The headers of these emails give some extra information.

Au pair/Nanny Service
We are a fun loving British family currently living in California but
we will be relocating to London soon and we need an aupair/nanny that
can take good care of our 2 children with little or no supervision.
Kindly reply to this email if you are interested and let us know of
your available date.

The IP address shows that this email was sent from Nigeria: 41.155.18.201 - Lagos, Nigeria. The sender of the email uses many different fake names; you can read about some of them here:

Here are some more emails from this scammer. The estate caretaker is also fake, and is part of the scam.

From: Carlos gabi Cruz <[email protected]>

I am satisfied with your response and i definitely believe you will be a good companion for our kids. Our main priority is for you to be a friendly and kids loving person and with all i have read of you so far i believe you are.
I will like you to confirm the arrival date better and let me know of that in due time so that i can also plan our schedule ahead to pick you up at the airport when you arrived. Mind you try and choose a weekend arrival so that i can be well available to give you every support necessary.
Once again we hope to pay £12 hourly and for 40 hours weekly will be 480 pounds weekly plus bus ticket worth £67 weekly.
I have decided to offer you a very high salary to enable you pay rent and municipal charges and also have some saving while living in London because we are offering a live out aupair job as we don't have provision for a live-in accommodation. We can also help you search a shared accommodation through the same estate caretaker that secured our home in Brent street and get back to you. So do confirm if a shared flat will be fine for you so that we can ask for its availability from the estate caretaker immediately.
As for your stay duration we hope to sign a 3 months contract with you for a start and extend the contract if we are satisfied with your services and if your are also willing to continue working with our family but it is okay if you wish to sign less duration agreement.
Waiting to read from you.
Cheers

Attached is a prototype of the contact letter which you are required to fill and send back to me for review. I just look on the estate caretaker website and i found a nice cheap apartment listed on the site for rent. The apartment is located in Brent street very close to our new apartment.
I called the estate caretaker and we did make few contacts on the apartment in Brent street and with the list of prizes given i think one of the cheapest of all we got cost about £89 weekly and that is 356 pounds monthly. Rent are expected to be paid in advance. According to the estate caretaker, the apartment he found you is just few houses away from us and i think that is a very good apartment for you. With the description given we understood it's comfortable because we were told it has a double bed, Blanket, towels, a wi-fi internet, tv, refrigerator, gas cooker, security lights, security alarms, heater, washing machine and a bathroom.
The fact is that at the moment i can't negotiate any apartment further in advance per se, since we are yet to affirm your consent on it and more so because we understood the issue of accommodation it's a first come first serve thing and their is no way we can secure one for you without your full readiness.
So do let me know if the prize is okay with you and in case you need any further information on the flat let me know as well so that i can verify more and also connect you with the estate caretaker in charge.
Waiting your immediate reply.

We communicated further with the estates caretaker and according to his explanation we understood the flat he discussed of is about few houses away from our home in brent street. We were also told that the £89 already includes water, electricity, internet and other minor bills.
Maybe you should contact the letting caretaker yourself for more reliable description of the flat, address, photo and other facilities if you are truly interested in it because according to him he said there are so much demand on the few accommodation available and it could be given out in no time.
The estate caretaker told me that you have to pay the rent deposit in order to secure the apartment and he also told me that there are other tenants interested in renting the room and it is a first come first serve basis and it is the first person to pay the rent become the bonafied tenant of the apartment. So, you have to send the rent deposit to the estate caretaker immediately so that he can secure the apartment for you before someone else pay for it. Inform me as soon as you have secured the apartment so that i can start preparing for your arrival.
Hence, you should contact the estate caretaker immediately for details on the apartment and how to book the apartment before it is let out to another tenant. You can contact the estate caretaker via email: [email protected] or phone number +447035906460.
Inform me as soon as you have secured the apartment so that i can start making arrangement on our trip to the UK.
Waiting for your immediate reply.

Here are emails from the fake estate caretaker. These emails were not sent from the UK; they were sent from Nigeria, as proven by the IP address: 41.155.94.242 - Lagos, Nigeria.

From: Taylor Wright <[email protected]>

Thank you for contacting UK Flat Share company, i am aware of your interest to occupy a room in one of our available estate located at Flat 1, Danescroft, Brent St, London NW4 2QH, UK.
The apartment is a 1 room flat with all amenities and it is a nice, modern and spacious apartment with all mod cons. Shaker style’ kitchen includes fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. Open plan living and dining area fully furnished. Very convenient, within walking distance of offices, shops, pubs and local amenities. Easy access to motorways. Broadband services are available. I attached some pictures of the apartment to this email and the room is vacant and ready to move in at the moment.
This apartment is the only cheap apartment we have at the moment and the cheapest you can find in Gloucester road. There are other tenants interested in this same room because it is cheap and comfortable but i can secure the room for you only if you can pay the advance rent deposit immediately.
Kindly let me know if this condition is okay with you (i.e, if you are ready to pay the rent deposit right away) otherwise i will have to accept payment from other tenants and sign the lease agreement.
The rent is 356 pounds Monthly and you are required to pay 1 month rent deposit in advance with the refundable security deposit of 500 pounds. The security deposit is refundable at the end of your rent contract.
Note that rooms are usually booked ahead and it is not guarantee to anyone unless an advance payment deposit is made on the room and to be guaranteed an apartment you are advise to cover the advance agreement now and be issued a rent contract and receipt immediately which stands as proof of your tenancy.
Photos are included in the attachment and more so could you be more specific about rent use period in your reply. That is, the length of stay.
Best Regards
