Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Chris Fuller Mon Aug 22, 2011 9:03 am
This is not a genuine au pair opportunity; it is a scam. The scammer, possibly via another fake person, company, or government department (lawyer, travel agency, embassy, UK Border Agency), will request money for a visa, work permit, flight tickets, deposit for an apartment, other 'necessary travel/employment documents'; or that you make a money transfer to prove that you have sufficient funds. This money will then be stolen from you. The scammer will not obtain any genuine documents for anyone; and does not really have an au pair position to offer.

If you are not a citizen of the European Economic Area, and hope to become an au pair in the UK, please check this website to see if you are eligible to do this:

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply ... thmobility

Do not send money to any agency, embassy, lawyer, or other person introduced to you by a potential host family, nor make any money transfer, for any reason, on the instruction of a host family or anyone who they have introduced to you. If you wish to consult the UK Border Agency, do not use an email address or website address given to you by your host family, but go to the genuine website here:

Hi! Actually I got the same e-mail... and surprise!!! as soon as I started to ask for an interview with the family (@skype) "Mr. Harper" told me that I was playing games and I was trying to scam them hahahahaha... Girls: please don´t let this people play with your minds... they are trying to make you feel bad as soon as you try to get more into it!!!
I was an aupair myself at the US for 2 wonderful years and no family (if it´s serious) would refuse an on line interview. Plus: check always with the embassy, they are very helpful and ready to answer all of your questions. The scamers put some pressure on you... saying they need urgent an aupair... believe me if a real family is in such a need they will be looking for someone who´s already in their country... When they look outside of the country they usually have some months to go, because they know that takes time to get trough all of the paperwork. So, just relax if you´re looking for a job... a real family always want to meet you closely before take any desicion. Don´t send pics in your first e-mail they will use it for other scams.... and please talk so much with your future employers... you really need to get to know them before say yes to LIVE with someone else for 1 year!!! (it´s like moving together with someone else!!! you don´t move in with the guy from last night at the bar!!). Sorry if there are grammar mistakes... my native language is Spanish...
