Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by CaitlinMate Fri Aug 26, 2011 9:38 pm
So far I have received TWO email from the same email address, with the name Brian Scott connected to the email, both claiming to be a different person.

His email is [email protected] (weird email address)
Dear Au Pair,

We are looking for someone loving and energetic to look after our lovely 3 Years old baby boy Brian. Ideally the person would start as soon as possible, although we are prepared to wait for the right person.

You will be required to look after him along during the day (Monday to Friday) whilst I am at work, with additional babysitting once or twice a week in the evenings or at the weekends.

My wife is currently 2 months pregnant with our second child so as much help and assistance around the house would be excellent.
The most important thing is that you must love kids, and be happy to help out around the house. We would like you to enjoy spending time with Brian, and take very good care of him. He is a very happy, friendly, cute boy, who really likes to be taken out of the house to playgroups, swimming in our pool, going to the swings or beach, meeting friends, etc. He will grow to love you very much. Ideally we would like you to become like one of our family.

In return we can offer you a very competitive weekly wage (500GBP) for a live-in position (in our 5 bedroom detached villa, London, UK) you will have your own double bedroom with en-suite, television, DVD player, WI-Fi internet access and radio. We can also give you access to our car if necessary. Travel costs will be covered by us.
Alternatively, we are happy to offer the right person a live-out position. If this was the case you must be available to work between 7.30am – 4pm Monday to Friday.
We are a very flexible, young and easy-going couple, and want you to be happy with us.

If you are really interested do get back to us soon, with the date you will like to start up duties, and Resume (CV) pictures.
Thanks.

Mr. John

1. The english is not up to scratch
2. £500 is a lot for one week.
3. A lot of them just say London, England.
4. He claims his name is Mr. John, but why is his email Brian Scott? He claims that is his sons first name. WEIRD!!!

Here is the second email I received, from the same address

Dear Aupair

Thanks for the mail,we love your profile.

You will have your own bedroom and your own bathroom either live in or live out fully furnished , plus deskphone and computer system with internet.

However,we love our daughter so much that's why we want to pay you (500GBP weekly)so you can take her as your own sister.pocket money which we will give to you every Friday morning.

We need a aupair to start with us soon and stay until at least 6months or more. We will need you to drive our second car if you can and we shall arrange driving lessons for you when you arrive. You may use this car for buying thing for your self and getting Mary back from school.

For how long can you stay and when is it possible that you can start? Also send your resume and pictures.

My Brother works with UK Home Office and thats good for us and he said he would get back to me with detailed visa information to go about employing an aupair. He said the visa process will take 7 business days but you should have a passport. Once I get the necessary information, I'll send it to you so that you do not make any mistakes hence make sure you wait for my travel guidance. My direct mobile is +447930234587 you can call or text me if you wish to talk to me and we love to hear your voice.

Thanks and hope to hear from you.

Mr John Scott.

He still claims to be John Scott, but what is even worse. He stuffs up and says he would love someone to look after Mary, and be an older sister to her, but he said Mary is his wife, and said he has ONE child, a SON named Brian. His number is also universal or something, real Au Pair numbers I have received don't have this.

If you are having trouble finding out if they are fake or not, type their email address into google, if nothing comes up, and their email is not @hotmail.com, something like a company, type in the company name, and see where it is and what's it about, I have done this to some families, and they have been genuine. Just search the name, and the area where they come from! Some of my results have shown newspaper articles with pictures of the family, and the people they really are!!

Hello, i have also received the same letters from John Brian. I have found out that it was a scam by the help of Internet and on this site, thanks a lot!.
But i wanted to know what kind of contract he is going to send me. He asked me for my full name and phone numbers. I gave him my full name, and the next day he sent me another message where there were attached a contract. It is so surprising that they sent me a contract to sign with no looking to my passport or even they did not ask for my passsport to show them.

And i have also got a message from Marta Lopez, who is living in California, but moving to London soon. I have found out something about her on this site too, i said so and even sent her the message that was written here, but she replied me back as this:

I really understand how you feel but i want you to know that my travel agency is honest, truthful and reliable. I also want you to know that this agency has been helping my aupairs to process there papers for the past 5 years and they have neither failed nor disapoint me and my previous aupairs so i am 100% sure that they will not disapoint you. I can assure you that.
I have hired a lot of aupairs in the past and they all came to USA through this same travel agency so i want you to be rest assured that nothing will happen to your money .
So i want you to contact the company immediately to avoid further delay in the processing of your papers cause it will take some weeks to process the papers after payment as said by the agency, better still if you cannot afford to pay all the expenses alone i can help you to pay some part of it, just tell me how much you can afford to pay.
so i want you to contact the agency immediately and get back to me soon. I also want you to know that the travel agency will process your Visa here in USA and they will also book your flight ticket here and this will make the whole process easy and fast. If you have any further question contact the travel agency cause they are in the best position to answer your questions correctly
I hope to hear from you soon.......
Cheers

She gave this address [email protected] and to contact ASAP.

This message i have got today:
It's a pity that the world as turn into a bosom of scam and it has make it difficult for us to distinguish good people from bad people on the internet, it has also make it difficult for me to find aupair on the internet since i was scammed by a so called aupair in the Philippines, but i come to realize that every body are not the same and that is why i am giving you a chance to work for me, so if you are interested in the job i want you to mail me back as soon as possible.
I want you to know that this is a legal proposal and i am giving you 100% assurance that you will not regret accepting my offer.
Ok, thanks.
I am Azhar from the Kyrgyz Republic.

HELLO AZHAR. I RESPONDED TO YOUR OTHER MESSAGE HERE ON SITE. Please don't tell scammers they are found on this site, they will change their method of working and we will have a difficult job to catch them again and to warn others. Can you ensure we have all email addresses and mail headers from the scammers please. I am glad you learn of these scams before you are sending money. Please never send money in advance to anyone by Western Union or Moneygram as it is always a scam. Never try to change cheques sent to you either if you are asked to send money back by Western Union, although at first these seem real. They may take 3 months to come back as false and you will have sent your own money off meantime. You could also be prosecuted for giving a false cheque and for money laundering. Have a look around the site at the scams posted and advice given. I am sure you are wise already, but don't worry about coming back with any question about any matter that could be fraud. Everyone here has considerable experience and are willing to help.

Thank you too Caitlin. As you can see your post brought another potential victim to the site, and exposed the scammer for anyone to find. Your assessments are correct. Could we have some mail headers please. Don't tell scammer he is here either. I am sure you aren't likely to send money in advance by Western Union etc , and equally, accept nothing either. It helps to look at the UK Border Agency website, to see what work is available from your country. Also look at the requrements for other countries too.

SEE THIS POST REGARDING THE PHONE NUMBER GIVEN. Same scammer.
viewtopic.php?f=34&t=15733

The other scammer number given there +4470318411932 , redirects to Nigeria so with or without the headers we know where they are from, and also more about their crimes.
