It is a scam because the money is way too much. See profile here. It is easy to hijack a profile and abuse it. Is this an agency you use below? Where did they get your email address from? I have no more info. Others will answer too I expect. WE NEED MAIL HEADERS.

If you are referred to a "visa agent" and money upfront via Western Union is asked for, THEN it is a scam

At this point in time, I would urge caution.
Yahoo says of the person: Name -Jason Baldwin, Gender - Male, Location - Maryland, Yahoo member since the 9th July 2011.
Please take into consideration the words of B. And posting any additional information would be great.

It is absolutely a scam. In addition to the reasons Began already gave, the English tells me the writer is not American.

While the US allows au pairs from almost any country, there are actually very strict requirements for au pair visas. You can see more information from the US government here: http://j1visa.state.gov/programs/au-pair/

I can tell you with absolute certainty. It is a scam.

The person who wrote those emails is NOT American. The writing tells me he is African.

There are other signs, too--for example he is asking if you have a work permit. You wouldn't have a work permit if you don't have a job here, and he would know that if he were really hiring an overseas worker! But he asks that question because he is getting ready for the inevitable money requests when he sends you to his agent/lawyer/travel agency who will supposedly help you to get any visas/permits.

Dotti hello, thank you very much for the information, I tell this gentleman seems to have read the forum and send me a message telling me how I dare to accuse him of con! I simply replied that I only advise me for my safety, not accuse him of anything, that just because his name appeared here and I trust you, and has not returned to answer.
Thank you very much! regards
