Subject: FIRST STEP TO TAKE
Hello,
I need to make you understand that I am the one in-charge
if your document, They already spoke to me about you and all they
want. With the way everything has gone so far, this is not a difficult
situation to handle and like i told Dan and Pam i will need just about
2-3 days to get everything prepared, i will make my co-workers do
extra work just to make sure that we can get the documents processes
as express and urgent ones.
After much discussion so far with Pamela, I have spoken to
some other guys in the cultural exchange department and they have all
given me suitable means to get it done as soon as the stipulated time.
Maybe you may also wish to know some few things about the
position you are about to be employed to.
An Au Pair is usually a foreign national who has entered the USA to
live with a family while improving his/her knowledge of the English
language. He/she is treated as a member of the family's household
rather than an employee and, in return for limited childcare and
housework duties (no more than 40 hours per week for), is given an
allowance. The Au Pair must be given his/her own room with full-board
in the family home, at least 2 days off work per week and adequate
time to attend English lessons. An au pair is usually a young person
with no formal childcare qualifications and should not be given sole
care of children under the age of 2.
Young people from almost all countries can become an au pair in the
USA, except from those countries which have no diplomatic relations
with the USA.
Travel costs and other costs: The travel costs will be paid by the
agency to which the host family makes payments for this purpose. The
au pair also pays a fee to the agency plus a deposit at some agencies
which will be returned at the end of the year. If the au pair leaves
before the stipulated time, he/she has to bear the costs for the
flight back to his/her home country and will not get the deposit back.
But in your situation your host family has made it clear that you
both will shoulder the whole expenses so you are lucky to have Dan and
Pamela.
Pocket money: Not lesser than 300,75 USD per week
Duration of stay: Au pairs may come to the United States for a minimum
of 12 months. A thirteenth month is normally added to travel across
the country. Au pairs have also the possibility of a one-time
extension for an additional period of 6, 9, or 12 months.
Preconditions: The au pair may tender needs a certificate of health,
or certificate of good conduct, or driver's license or experiece in
the field of child care.
Age: The au pair should be 18 to 50 years old.
Working hours: The au pair works up to 35 hours per week and not more
than 10 hours per day.
Holidays / weekends: The au pair is entitled to 1 1/2 days off per
week and one weekend off per month (beginning Friday evening and
ending Monday morning). During a stay of 12 months, the au pair gets 2
weeks (10 working days) of paid holiday.
Courses during the stay: The au pair must attend eight training hours
on child safety and 24 hours of training on child development before
going to the host family. Furthermore, the au pair must take part in
further education courses and the family must pay up to $700 per year
for this purpose. Some agencies offer language courses to the au pair
which might also be obligatory.
Educational background: The au pair must have good knowledge and needs
a high school diploma or a corresponding education.
If the au pair is required to look after a child under the age of two,
the au pair has to demonstrate that she has at least 200 hours of
child care experience with infant children of that age group. If the
au pair is required to care for a child younger than 3 months, it is
obligatory that a parent or other adult is present during that time.
Insurance: The host family must pay a health insurance for the au
pair. It is advisable that the au pair effects an accident insurance
and a third party insurance for the stay.
Visa: To become a legal au pair in the USA you need to have a J1-Visa
or a Ds 2019 Formula. You can only apply for this J1-Visa if you go
through one of the 13 federally designated au pair agencies. From
these agencies you can get a DS-2019 form with which you can apply for
a visa. I have hence been linked with the DS-2019 form by some
agencies.
There are so many documents to be done to enhance a free and easy
entrance into America as an aupair or nanny or babysitter. I will
mention some documents for you here for you just to know. All the
documents would be arranged for immediately i get to the office today.
There must be a letter of invitation from the family
Au Pair Letter is suitable where a family wishes to invite someone
to join their family as an Au Pair. The working times, allowance and
other conditions meet the standards recommended by the American Au
Pair Agencies Association.
The host family should complete the letter of invitation and send it
to the Au Pair who will then be able to use the letter to support
his/her application for a visa. Even if the Au Pair does not require a
visa to enter the USA as an au pair, this letter is still useful since
it sets out the terms under which you are offering the Au Pair
position and can therefore help avoid misunderstandings.
The recommended weekly allowance for an Au pair should not be lower
than 300,75 USD (towards the top end in the USA area). Any sum
substantially lower could suggest that the Au Pair is filling the
position of a domestic slave which might not require a work permit and
may result in the host having to register as an employer and pay
National Insurance and PAYE.
This Au Pair Letter is suitable for use in USA and includes clauses covering:
accommodation
allowance
duties (including babysitting)
holidays
holiday pay
start date and duration of position
working times.
accommodation
benefits
duties
expenses
holiday entitlement
probationary period
rates of pay
sickness
statutory disciplinary and grievance procedures
termination of employment
working times
Other documents to be done are also
Codice fiscale (ID): this ID is needed to be employed as an au pair
register with the American National Health Service on a voluntary basis
open a bank account
The American Tax ID (Codice fiscale) can be obtained from the locally
competent tax authority.
The following documents have to be submitted:
a valid residence permit
a copy of an ID card/passport
Liability Insurance: This insurance is held responsible for damage
which is unintentionally caused to a third party within the context of
private and family life. This insurance is also liable for harms which
have been caused with malicious intent by an au pair girl or boy as
well as in case of an accident that happens to the au pair boy or girl
while he/she is taking care of the host family's child/children.
Administrative procedure for Non USA citizens
Work permit: Au pairs from all around the world need a work permit
Residence Card: citizens don't have to apply for a Residence Card. To
apply one must visit at the locally competent Police Headquarters and
any more. Those who wish to stay in America for 3 months or less can
declare their presence at the locally competent Police Headquarters.
I have taken my time to inform you of all these so you know the amount
of work that i need to put in place just for within three days. I owe
the family an obligation to do all this so i will put all hands on
deck to make this happen as they want you around as soon as possible.
I will prepare all of this documents from here.
You will only have to send to me scanned page of a very good passport
photograph and your bio-data details, i hope you understand what a
bio-data form is and you will also need to send a scanned page of your
international passport to include passport number and date issued and
expiration.
Thanks.
