Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Chris Fuller Wed Nov 16, 2011 6:33 am
This is not a genuine au pair or domestic worker opportunity; it is a scam.

Please be aware that very few non-European citizens can become either an au pair or a domestic worker (eg nanny, housekeeper, chef, driver) in the UK. If you are not European, and you are looking for an au pair position in the UK, please check here whether you are eligible:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... ityscheme/

If you also click on 'Working and conditions' on the left hand side of that webpage, you will be able to confirm that this is the correct visa for au pairs.

Visas for domestic workers in the UK are only available for people who have already been working for the family for a minimum of one year in another country, and are travelling to the UK with them. You can confirm this here:

Thank you for the feedback - we are glad we can be of help!

Unfortunately, people often don't realize just how widespread these scams are, and how many people they really affect. It's not just the people who actually send money to the scammers who are damaged. The scams also affect innocent people whose photos and/or names are being used; social networking sites and classified sites that are being piggybacked or misused in the scams; credit card companies that end up writing off large losses; shipping companies whose stolen accounts are used to send fake checks, etc; even legitimate charities who lose donations because of the suspicion generated by so many fakes.

By doing our best to educate and inform people, and provide them with the tools to identify and avoid scams, we hope to help everyone who is affected by the scams.
