Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Chris Fuller Mon Nov 28, 2011 2:17 am
This scam mail was not really sent from the USA; it was sent from Nigeria, as proven by the IP address: 41.71.176.222 - Lagos, Nigeria. The au pair website has already deleted his fake profile.

This man sent me an email the 28th November 2011.

I even replied and told him my personal details.
I asked if he was a scam, he reassured me that he was an honest man.
How the hell!!
I contacted his TRAVEL AGENCY and even looked them up on google.
They seemed genuine. They want you to pay half. They even said that Mr Parker confirmed with them.

Is this REALLY A SCAM????

Hello Droziz and welcome to ScamWarners. Yes, it is really a scam.

Scammers often use the name of a real travel agency, but they give you a false email address for this agency. The email address which they give you is really one of the scammer's own email addresses - and the same scammer who writes to you and pretends to be the host family also writes the emails pretending to come from the travel agency.

It is also usual for a scammer to pretend to pay half of any fees. This is to try to persuade you that they are genuine and kind. In reality, the scammer isn't paying anything - because the travel agency is fake, and the fees are invented.

This scammer, as mentioned above, is not really living in the USA. He is living in Nigeria, and he is sending his emails from Nigeria. He does not have an au pair position to offer you; it is invented.

Also, in reality, the US Government currently allows 13 sponsors only to run Au Pair programs in the USA. You can read about this here:

http://j1visa.state.gov/programs/au-pair/

http://j1visa.state.gov/participants/how-to-apply/

And you will find a list of designated sponsors here:

http://j1visa.state.gov/participants/ho ... =&x=14&y=8

You must go through one of those agencies if you wish to become an au pair in the United States. An individual family in the USA is not permitted to directly engage you as an au pair; it is not permitted by US immigration law.

Please also note that you need to register with an agency first in order to become an au pair in the USA. The agency will then 'match' you with a family.

Please stop all contact with this scammer: his only intention is to trick you into sending money to him, so that he can steal it from you.

Yes it is a scam.

Of course he will tell you that it is not, he's not likely to admit it is he.

Also, travel agencies do not arrange visas for people and the fact that he arranged to pay half is a sham, he is just making it look like he is helping you whereas in reality he's paying nothing because the scammer is the travel agent as well.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Email you receive once you have accepted

Hello,

I seriously appreciate your reply knowing you are willing and ready to be part of my family. This is our recent family picture hope you will like it. Your basic job is to protect, love, play with my daughter, and teach her in your care, and then to share your insights with me. The other basic of your duties is child-related housekeeping and focus on her. I really need you to come over here to assist me take proper care of my daughter because, I'm usually out and feel its bad leaving my daughter alone at home at all time so i really would appreciate you to come over here soon and start taking care of her.

Are you 100% ready, interested and capable to be the nanny for my daughter here in the US? I want you to answer me all questions that i would be asking you on here because i'm serious to hire you as a nanny here and I'm a very honest and kind man so give me a chance to trust you until everything works out.

what is your full name? what is your full address? city? state? zip code? country? phone number? do you still have parents? how old are you? are you married and do you have any kids? do you live alone in an apt? what type of work are you presently doing in your Country?

Email me some of your pictures and send me your answers.

Do you have US VISA and WORK PERMIT? If you don't have VISA and WORK PERMIT, i would advice you to e-mail my TRAVEL AGENCY to help you for the US VISA and WORK PERMIT and FLIGHT TICKET here is the link that you will contact the TRAVEL AGENCY ([email protected]) If you have contact them let them know you are from me and explain to them all you need for the traveling to US and i want you to tell the TRAVEL AGENCY that i will help you pay for the half payment for the VISA,WORK PERMIT and FLIGHT TICKET. Just to tell you how urgent i needed you here and to assure you on how serious i am, about you coming here to work for my family as a nanny, the job is already yours. If you have finally arrived here, i will refund the half payment that you spent for your papers back to you and i will start paying your basic salary without any delay and disappointment.

As for how long you can work for my family, well i think that depend on how long you will like to work here with me but left for me, i do not intend to see you off in the next 2-3 years cause i really would need your services. I would be very grateful if you respond better to me. You have nothing to worry about you will be treated like one of the family and you will have 5 days to work in a week and 2 days as your off days that is Saturdays and Sundays. You will have the opportunity to do what ever you want to for your own good on weekends. I know if i discuss about you with my wife, she would like you despite the fact that they are yet to see you. Well hope to hear from you now.

Thank you for posting these emails. Email addresses which end with @usa.com are free 'fun' webmail addresses available from mail.com. Scammers frequently use mail.com email addresses because they think that they appear authentic and believable.

Two more examples of mail.com addresses frequently used by au pair scammers are @london.com and @lawyer.com.
