I actually have been contacted by "Bruce Winterr" I'm so thankful for your post on here. His new email address that he is using is actually [email protected], he's been emailing me for the past week telling me to make a payment of 500pounds to the travel agency for my visas. We suspected something was up because he told me to western union the money to a person. And then when I told him I didnt have the money, he said that if I would Western Union $150 to his friend in West Africa, he would make the full visa payment. This is a HUGE scam.

Thank goodness you posted a scam warning about Bruce Winterr, an organised scam attempting to rip off job seekers.

Our daughter registered with Nanny World looking for work and was contacted within hours by 'would be' robbers purporting to be Mr Bruce Winterr. Two suspicious emails and a doggy photograph led us to do a simple Google search before any money was handed over.
Only cost to date is our daughter suffered disappointment due to the lies within scam.

We have listed below the email addresses used during the month of August 2009.
1. [email protected]
2. [email protected]
3. [email protected]

Message to all job seekers: If you are contacted and the offer appears to be ‘too good to be true’.... it most probably is. Do your research and keep hold of your money.

To the owners of this website; Please keep up the good work of sharing scam warnings.
Thank you!
PS: one nil to good people!!

Hi All, I am very new here and found this website after I had done a search on "Bruce Winterr".
A friend of mine is selling her horse and placed an add on two sites, one being based out of Massachusetts, USA also where the horse is located. She got an email from a "Bruce Winterr" or "Bruce Winterrs" stating that he is interested in the horse and would like more info asap so he can schedule shipment and payment right away. He has never seen this horse, nor did he say where he was from or ask any other horse related questions. She did email him back, but with a very limited response asking where he saw her add, and what he was looking to do with the horse. And she also requested veterinarian and personal references.
He also had a few different email addresses located in the To: & From: in the email headers and none being my friends email address.
Thank you so much for this site, it is a wonderful tool and more should know about it.

The following may be of help to any selling horses or anything online;

Increasing numbers of advertisers have contacted Horse & Hound after being approached by individuals involved in attempted internet-based scams.

Some horse owners who have advertised their animals online have received dubious offers from "buyers". The buyers (almost always based overseas) promise to send a cheque that more than covers the cost of the horse and shipping, before asking the vendor to wire the excess amount back to their "agent". The cheques, if they arrive, bounce.

"No one buys a horse unseen, so it rang alarm bells straight away," said Maria Featherstone, who was contacted by "Bobby" via e-mail after advertising her Thoroughbred mare for sale.

She explained: "He said I was not to stress myself with worry about shipping — he would arrange it all. His accountant wanted my bank details so he could pay by banker's cheque. I e-mailed him back saying: 'You must think I'm stupid.'"

Ian Crofts received an e-mail from a Dr Bill McDonalds after advertising his dark bay Dutch dressage gelding for sale. In faltering English, Dr McDonalds offered to send a cheque for £24,750, from which Mr Crofts should deduct his payment of £19,750 and then "wire the excess amount to my shipping agent via Western Union money transfer".

Office of Fair Trading advice - "to anyone selling anything is don't hand over any goods until you're happy that the payment has been made. And remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is".

Could your buyer be bogus?

Be wary if:

The buyer is overseas, wishing to buy sight unseen

The English in the e-mail is poor

Is the phrase last price or best price included?

Is the buyer proposing to send you MORE than the cost of purchase and shipping?

Better to:

Insist on exact payment only

Request a phone number and address

Under no circumstances, part with goods until payment has COMPLETELY cleared

I received an email from "Jason Spyke" who was interested in renting an apartment of mine in MA from the United Kingdom. My husband was the one who noticed the same line in several emails posted here: "...she is satisfied with the present condition and I am okay with the price..." The email addresses he used were as follows:

[email protected]
[email protected]

After his initial, strangely written email, I responded with a short message requesting more information re: credit checks, etc. Here's the response I received; needless to say, I won't reply:

"Hello,

Thanks for the mail and i am very happy to inform you that i have talked to my daughter about the room and she is satisfied with the present condition and i am okay with the price of the room and i am willing to have it for my only daughter.

Here is a little about my daughter...Her name is Brenda, she is a 23yrs female, very reserved, quiet down to earth girl...she is easy going loves to keep a neat and tidy surrounding....she doesn't mingle around that much so she really don't have friends...she returns home straight from school and you will always find her listening to some good music during her spare time....or rather prepare a good meal cause the kitchen is her favorite spot....lol...she is not a party freak and she doesn't go to clubs either.don't drink nor smoke..rather she prefer reading bible novels cause we are catholic and we are a very religious family...she is often described by her friends as the shy type but she get to mix up after one or two conversations...she is very easy to get along with as you will find her interesting, witty and funny.....I hope this give you an insight of what my daughter even though it might look like i know more about her but i need to cause i have been looking after right from the age of five after her mum died in a fatal car accident..am sure you will get to like her when you meet her in person...

I will instruct my Accountant to issue out payment as soon as possible so i will be need the following infos from you so payment can be sent out to you...

Please i will need the following full datas from you.

Name to be on the cheque:
Full Address:
State:
Postal Code:
Country:
Telephone number (Cell,Office,Home):
Total Amount to be paid for the first two months(Including security and Utilities):

Kindly get back to me with the infos today as my daughter can not wait to be in the state to join her friends and i am sure you will be glad to have her as your next tenant.

Thanks and Best of Regards to your Family.

Jason Spyke"

Thank you for the warning about his initial email address.
