The following email was received in response to a listing on an Au Pair website. This is a scam, no vacancy exists the scammer will try an scam you out of money by asking for fees or travel costs or accomodation costs.

How are you doing? hope all is well with you and your family over there.
The reason why am writing you is that I want to know whether you can be
the Au pair for my kids. I am a Married woman,with two kids.I have an Au
pair at the moment but will soon be leaving,her contract is ending in two
weeks time and moreover she wish to stay more longer but she latter told
me that she has an urgent appointment which she have to attend in her
country. Do you have passport if you do you don't need to be worried
about your travel document.It's all about my kids therefore,in the house
I have 1 puppy dog and 2 Rabbits I have someone taking care of the pets
interms of washing, and cleaning together with feeding. Your
responsibilities is just to be with the kids and your presence will be
figured to my kids like that of a Mother to Children while am at work
well this all you have to do. I would like to know if you will accept
this invitation so I can arrange how you going to get here so you can
start work.I Suggest to look for an Au pair/Nanny who will be God
fearing, hardworking and mostly honest in service. I'm Mrs Sandra
Williams and live at 9 Burghley Lane, Stamford,Lincolnshire,PE8 2LT
United Kingdom. I will want an Au pair that is ready to come over hear
hopefully next month,She/He will be treated as part of my family and not
just like an Au pair. You will be paid a sum of 1500 Pounds on 25th of
every month and a 200 Pounds as your pocket money and will be subjected
to increment base on your performance.Also I will want you play with the
kids and teach them new things so as to widen their horizon. You will
have access to everything in my house,will be taking care of by me.
Lastly I will like you to know that I will be responsible for the
Traveling expenses ranging from your Visa,working permit and your flight
fee But you will the be one to shoulder for the courier service fee for
the shipment of your documents to your destination,We can arrange a
part-time study for you which is very near to my house and we will make
all necessary payments thats if you want to study.Hope you are satisfied
with my arrangements for you.If so kindly write back to discuss further
on how we will arrange your travel plans for you so that you can join my

Its good to hear from you, I have to tell you that this job is yours. Let me tell you those task you'll have to perform daily, you will take the kids to school in the morning 6:30am and after they close from school you go and pick them back home right about 2pm in afternoon, and you will close from work by 6pm in noon and before 6pm .I will be back from work by 4:30pm which i will render assistance for you,Saturdays and Sundays will be your off working period, you will be having a room in the same house we are living with the kids ,but if you want to stay out I shall make provision for you on that. Their is a personal car to take the both kids out for pick nick during the weekends...hope you understand better.......i want to ask you if you have a valid UK Visa and Working permit. If you do not, kindly email me back so that we can make arrangement on how you can secure a Visa and working permit down here. I will be looking forward to your reply soonest.

Thanks for the mail,you will need a Visa and working permit so as to effectively work here in UK for me and since you don't have all this,i will refer you to a Travel agency for the official approach and subsequent procedure on how to secure a Visa and working permit to UK,you can email then through([email protected]). I will like you to get back to me so as to know the requirement and how much it will cost us for the processing of your document and am ready to assist you for the cost of processing your document but you will have to contribute little to it. do you know for certain this is a scam... I have a friend that was contated from this e mail adress adn made all the paiments... from what i know. Is there any change of getiing back her money ???

Yes, we are certain this is a scam. Your friend should report the scam to her local police department. If she gave them any banking information she should also report it to her bank and get her account number changed. She should also be aware of the potential for identity theft. Unfortunately she probably will not be able to get her money back.
