Thank you for posting this. My friend recently received the exact same email and one of the photographs. It also looked illegitimate to me right off the bat. Can you please explain more about the scam? What tipped you off that it is a scam and do you know what these people are attempting to do with their scam? Thanks again for the info.

Hi quibelle,

the au pair scam normally proceeds as follows:
1. they offer you a fake au pair job
2. they state that some fee is required for "travel documents", and ask you money

for more information.

A big red flag is +4470/+44070 numbers, they are redirects, i.e. can be answered in any place of the world.

Scammers will register their fake profiles on all the au pair websites which allow host families to create profiles. This does not mean that the website is fake or a scam - just that scammers are also registering there.

Our 'Overview of Au Pair Scams' will give you some tips regarding recognising the scammers; you can read this here:

hi,I live in Portugal, that persons contacted me by a page aupair, and this also I received an email from [email protected], everything was very nice... they asked me money to send to London and my copy of transfer on western union... something must be done for these scammers?

How are you doing today and how is the weather over there in your country? Hope its nice.

From the requirements of the UK Home Office which you forwarded to us , we understand that they expect you to make an Eligibility Deposit of 950GBP using your name as the receivers name, Sender's name can be anybody at your discretion (Family Member, friend or Relative's name as the Senders Name), Payout Location UK.

According to them , the deposit is not a Payment and it is not with drawable that is why they told you to make your name the receiver's name. They need you to make your Eligibility deposit with the instructions they gave you, so that they can be able to verify that you are capable enough to live and work in the UK before receiving your first salary from your Employer, and to enable them issue you your worker's Accession card and certificate of Eligibility.

We advise that you make your Eligibility deposit with the instruction's of the UK Home Office by using Western Union because they are more efficient.

As soon as you make your Eligibility deposit, send a scanned copy of your deposit slip and copy of your International Passport to the UK Home Office.

Ensure that you keep your original deposit slip carefully, so that after their verification they will inform you to go and pick your fund back in your country.

The UK Home Office advise that you make your Eligibility Deposit within 3working days, so you have to be fast on your own side, to enable them start the speedy processing of your traveling documents as we longs to be with you as soon as possible.

Once you complete the requirements of the UK Home Office, inform us so that we will write them for speedy processing and approval of your traveling documents.

We love you,.

Regards.
