Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by roxi92 Fri Feb 10, 2012 6:59 am
Hello. Im from Poland, but it's the only website when I can search for help.
I found some informations about
Ramson Rolland Family.
64 Newman Street.
London, United Kingdom.
W1T 3DZ
+447011147211

they said they want me to be their au pair.
I GAVE THEM MY CV(adress, facts about my education etc.) and my PESEL, it's something like ID in England. Everybody in Poland has own Pesel number.
And they also have my picture.

Am I safe? Oh my Gosh, Im so scared!!! Can they make me some bad things? :(((((((

Hello roxi92 and welcome to ScamWarners.

It is very unlikely that the scammers will do anything with the information that you have sent to them as all they are really interested in is getting your money.

The best thing for you to do is to cut off all communication with them and don't answer any more of their emails.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

So it means Im safe? I dont have to tell that to my bank or to police?
by AlanJones Fri Feb 10, 2012 7:23 am
There is no need to tell your bank, unless you have given the scammer your account information.

As to telling the police, you can do, but there is nothing that they will be able to do as the scammer is operating anonymously out of an Internet cafe in somewhere like West Africa.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Ok. Thank you.
But what they can co having those information about me? Im so scared, I can't calm down :((((
by AlanJones Fri Feb 10, 2012 7:38 am
As I said before, all they are interested in doing is scamming money out of people.

They are not going to get on an airplane and turn up on your doorstep as that would involve them spending money, which is something they don't want to do (not to mention it is unlikely they would get a visa).

If you just stop communicating with them they will soon forget about you and move on to the next victim.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Ok, thank you very much. But how about some packages? Could they buy something and just I dont know, in some way try to make me pay for it? Or something else?
by AlanJones Fri Feb 10, 2012 7:45 am
There is no way they can make you pay for something if they don't have your bank or credit card details. So as long as you haven't given any bank details they can't do anything financial to you.

As I said before, they are just after getting money from you, if you cut off contact they will soon get the idea that they are getting no money and move to the next victim.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Hey roxi.

Glad you researched this "au pair" and discovered it was a scam! I'd just like to reiterate what Alan has told you: you have nothing to worry about. They only ask for this information to make the scam seem more legit, they don't use it.

Thank you very much. Im quite calm now. There is still some kind of scary... but thanks to you guys I feel much better. I ask the same question on Polish forum, and they started to getting me scary more and more. Sayin: "Who knows, how they can use your data..." I was freaking out!
But now, I hope I can trust you.

Greetings

I'm not Polish but certainly in England you could never do anything remotely important with just that information, you'd need a lot more. If I were you I really, really wouldn't worry about this my dear. Just count it as an important lesson and move on :)

Thank you.
Yes, in England. In Poland also, but as AlanJones said, he/she can be somewhere like Africa.. and what then? Could he do something from that away?

Thank you very much.
by Flibble Fri Feb 10, 2012 10:00 am
Absolutely not. He has even less chance of doing something with your information when he isn't in Poland. Imagine I come over to Poland with details of an Englishman (like my national insurance number) and start trying to get loans and stuff. The information is useless - no one can verify it is valid and it just has no use in Poland. You're fine.

Hi roxi92,

as Alan said, you are safe. Just to be extra careful, you can report to your local law enforcement (and get something proving you contacted them), as potentially they can create a copy of your document from data you gave (or at least a very real looking one), and use it to scam other people.

It is important to cut contacts asap with them as suggested by above posts, and do not confront them as they have your R/L details.
