Dear Au Pair, We are an active, caring family living in the outskirts of Exeter looking for someone to join us. We have had wonderful experiences with both nannies and au pairs in the past and want to continue in this way. Our last au pair has, unfortunately, to return home at the beginning of March and we would be looking for someone to start as soon as possible after that. We have lived in France and the Netherlands and enjoy the opportunity of meeting people from other countries. We are both working parents with two boys called Cameron 10 and Samuel 6. Our boys go the neighbouring school, conduct numerous sports and other activities. We have a dog called Bramble, a cat called Percy and several fish! We love sailing, skiing and generally being out and about. Exeter is a small city, only 3 miles away, which offers a language school as well as all the other amenities you would expect to include a wide choice of restaurants and pubs, 3 cinemas, a theatre and whole host of other activities. In the summer Devon's beaches are to North and South of us and only 30 minutes away. We have had 5 au pairs and 2 nannies in the past over a period of 10 years or so. We need our au pair to be responsible, warm and full of initiative with a healthy, active lifestyle that fits our own. You would need to cook light meals for the boys occasionally. A full, clean driving licence is essential in order to drop off and collect the boys from their activities. There would also be a requirement for a couple of nights babysitting per week. You would need to supervise and help the boys with their homework and look after the pets when we are away. We also need you to be able to the children's ironing and washing and a couple of hours cleaning round the house. You would have the use of the car for personal use and for longer journeys we are close to Exeter Railway Station that links with London stations in just over 2 hours. Weekends are generally your own time and we heartily encourage you to explore Devon and Cornwall which are magical in the summer and wider to London and the rest of the United Kingdom.

This scammer is also pretending to be a hired killer. The contents of this email are untrue; it is an invented story and invented threats, intended to scare people into sending money. If you receive an email like this, please simply ignore and delete it. The scammer has NOT been hired to kill anyone; it is all a lie.

Subject: Hired to Kill you.........................

This is the only way I could contact you for now,I want you to be very careful about this and keep this secret with you until I make out space for us to see. You have no need of knowing who I am or where I am from.I know this may sound very surprising to you but it's the situation. the problem is, if i do'nt KILL YOU somebody else will. i have been paid some ransom in advance to terminate you with some reasons listed to me by my employer. It's someone I believe you call a friend, Do not contact the police or try to send a copy of this to them, because if you do, I will know, and might be pushed to do what I have been paid to do, this is the 1st time I turn out to be a betrayer in my job. I took pity on you, that is why I have made up my mind to help you if you are willing to help yourself.

BEFORE THAT YOUR REQUIRED TO MAKE AVAILABLE THE SUM OF 2000 pounds. AFTER WHICH I WILL DIRECT YOU ON WHAT TO DO NEXT TO SAVE YOUR SELF AND YOUR FAMILY FROM THIS PAIN THAT WOULD HAVE BEFALLED YOU FROM MY EMPLOYER,THE MONEY WILL BE USED TO SETTLE THE TEAM MEN INVOLVED TO GO BACK TO THERE DESTINATIONS AND YOU BETTER KEEP THIS INFORMATION TO YOUR SELF BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW WHO IS WHO WHERE YOU ARE NOW,IF HE FINDS OUT I HAVE BETRAYED HIM TRYING TO HELP YOU,YOU WILL HAVE YOUR SELF TO BLAME, I HAVE ORDERED MY MEN TO SATY AWAY FROM YOU.

DO WE HAVE A DEAL OR NOT ?

NOTE: YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS HERE, (1)YOU HAVE TO GET HIM ARRESTED WITH THE INFORMATION I WILL GIVE YOU AFTER THE PAYMENT OR ( 2)YOU HAVE HIM KILLED TO SAVE YOUR SELF.

I WILL VISIT YOUR HOUSE AGAIN BUT NOT NOW,MY BOYS EYES ARE ON YOU SO
GET BACK TO ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Hi, Chris!

I've got today exactly the same letter with a threat, but it sounds so much stupid that it's hard ot believe it. Thus, i'm going to take measures on this topic as this is not the first letter i receive. What are you going to do?
I have already complained to a Scotland Yard and UK Home Office, showing all evidences, because i have enough reasons (according to their previous mails) to suppose that this group of scammers work from UK.

Salut.

Hello Anonymous12, and welcome to ScamWarners. I'm glad that you didn't believe this email!

Nearly all au pair scammers are actually living in Nigeria, and it is usually impossible to get them arrested. They use fake names and email accounts set up with false information, and they often use anonymous internet cafés as well, so it is unlikely that anyone can discover their true identities. But even if we can find out who they really are, the police in our own countries are unable to make an international arrest; and the police in Nigeria are normally too busy dealing with other types of crimes in their country to prioritize investigating scammers.

Therefore, the best thing that we can do is publicise the scammers and warn others about them. We can't get them arrested - but we can do our best to prevent them from stealing money from people, by telling others about them.

Hi Billy Jack,

Locking out scammer's email accounts like you propose does NOT stop scammers. They just open another email address and all of the posts and information we have on that email address becomes useless.

Please do not get their email addresses closed. It only takes 5minuets for them to open another, or a dozen email addresses.

It feels "good", but it doesn't do good. If you have questions please ask any Moderator, like Chris Fuller or Administrator as we are all very experienced in dealing with scammers.
