Hello Coore

It's a scam I'm afraid.

The quality of the English in the first email is better than many that I have seen, but there are still some indicators in that mail that it was written by a non-native English speaker. When I got to the 3rd email I was sure as it has definite African touches to it.

Also a search on the sentence "We live in a beautiful spacious home in " brings up other scam emails, complete with the same grammatical errors in them.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

Unfortunately, I only had to glance at this one to tell you it is fake. I didn't even have to really read it or look at the English, because I recognized this line immediately:

Everyone that comes to visit is immediately wrapping their arms around

I responded to a member asking about this script yesterday (the scammer was using another name and had turned the daughter into a son). That script has been around a while, as you can see.

Hello caelarose, and welcome to ScamWarners. Thank you for posting this email and the address of the fake barrister. I'm glad that you researched this person, and discovered that it is a scam.

In reality, the UK Home Office does not issue nor approve contracts - this is a scammer's invention.

For genuine information about how to apply for a visa to become an au pair in the UK, please see:

Never send money, or make any type of money transfer, on the instruction of a host family, or on the instruction of any agency, embassy, lawyer, or other person who was introduced to you by a host family.

They sent me photos too, of a pretty girl dressed with a swimming costume and other with a blue dress!
by DelLR Fri Jun 22, 2012 12:18 pm
The same happened to me!!!! THANK YOU for helping me discover this fake. What else can we do to help other people not to believe them? I sent them an email telling them about this fake and they answered me with only insults (that I don't care).
Where can we alert people?
Thank you again for posting this information!

Welcome here DelLR.

By posting the names, email addresses and scam emails many potential victims can be saved. You could also spread the word around amongst your friends, write about it in blogs, social networking sites etcetera. The more people know about these scams, the less victims there will be.

Being a victim doesn't mean you stand alone. We're here to help you.

I have written to the site and I have told them what happened to me.

I got this e-mail:

"This is to inform you that you were recently contacted by the Family [349508], Katie from United Kingdom which as per our investigation team may be fraud or scammer so be careful while discussing Job offer with the family.

You are requested not to share any personal documents with the family and do not send any money until you are fully satisfied that family and Job offer provided by family is genuine.

We also request you to report us the family on [email protected] if you also find that family is fraud or scammer during anytime of job offer discussion with family."

I am a little bit happier and satisfied but I am afraid that there are a lot of scams.

I have written to the best known Hungarian TV to warn Hungarian girls and women.
by auraandrea Fri Jul 06, 2012 3:59 am
My previously letter that you did not get:

I am a Hungarian student girl and the same happened to me. I have got the same e-mails and photos.
I am very disappointed and I fear to look for a job in the UK.

Unfortunately, I have an airplane ticket to London (11th of July...) and I have to find something.

I do not know what could I do.
by Chris Fuller Fri Jul 06, 2012 4:16 am
I'm sorry that you have had this experience, auraandrea.

It is probably a bit too late now to arrange something for next week, but for future reference:

You may prefer to to seek an au pair position through an agency which is a member of the International Au Pair Association (IAPA), or an agency which is a member of the British Au Pairs Agencies Association (BAPAA). You can find a list of IAPA member agencies in your country, or in the UK, here:

http://www.iapa.org/members/member-list/

And a list of BAPAA member agencies here:

http://www.bapaa.org.uk/directory.asp?page=20

For other types of work, as you are a European citizen, if you are prepared to arrange your own accommodation or have somewhere to stay in London, you can search for employment vacancies here:

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/ ... G_10030134

And you may also like to contact an agency which is a member of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC). Like the IAPA and BAPAA au pair agencies, these are reliable agencies who agree to a Code of Practice to safeguard jobseekers. You can find REC member agencies here:

https://www.rec.uk.com/membersarea/dire ... .asp?dir=1

Some agencies may require au pairs or jobseekers to pay a registration or placement fee. Other agencies charge a fee to the host family or employer only.

Thank you for your answer!

I am going to visit my friends in Norwich, so I won't "loose" the ticket.

I am not very good at speaking English. Could you tell me how do you know that the scams are Africans?
I can't imagine what could scams do with an Au Pair (yes... I have some tips... but I do not know exactly...).
by Chris Fuller Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:03 am
The aim of all internet scammers is to steal money from people. There are many ways that au pair scammers can do this, and you can read about many of these methods here:

Overview of Au Pair Scams

You can also read there a few ways to protect yourself from au pair scams.

Not all scams come from West Africa; they come from many other countries as well, including European countries. The majority of Au Pair Scams are sent from Nigeria, however; some from South Africa, some from Malaysia; and we have seen them sent from Dubai, the UK, and the USA as well.

There is a difference between UK- or USA-English and Nigerian-English, and sometimes we can recognise the origin of the writer by this. At other times, we know which country the the emails have been sent from because the IP address in the header (a hidden but easily accessible part of all emails) shows us the location of the sender.

I hope you have an enjoyable time in Norwich; it's a very nice city!
