Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by frøya-frøy Sat Mar 03, 2012 4:17 am
I got an email from this one, and checking out the contents via google I came across a similar writing.
Here's what she/he wrote:
Dear Au Pair,

How are you doing? hope all is well with you over there. The reason why am
writing you this concise message is just to know whether you can be an Au pair/Nanny
for my kids. I'm Mrs. Merlin Scott , with two kids 3 and 5years respectively.
I have an Au pair at the moment but will soon be leaving, her contract is ending
in less than two weeks time. Do you have Passport if you do you don't need to be
worried about your travel document. In the house we have a Puppy Dog and two Rabbits,
I have some one taking care of the Pets in terms of washing, and cleaning together
with feeding. Your responsibilities is just to be with the kids and your presence
will be figured to my kids like that of a Mother to Children while am at work, well
this all you have to do. I would like to know if you will accept this offer so that
I can arrange how you going to get here so that you can start work. I Suggest to
look for an Au pair/Nanny who will be God fearing, hardworking and mostly honest
in service. We live in 216, Oxford Street London W1D 1BS, United Kingdom. I will want an Au pair
that is ready to come over here hopefully by next month and He/She will be treated
as part of my family and not just like an Au pair. Though i might be flexible on
the date, and your date of starting the work could be considered. You will be paid a sum
of 1,000 Pounds monthly and an extra 70 Pounds as your weekly pocket money and will be
subjected to increment base on your performance. More so, I will want you play
with the kids and teach them new things so as to widen their horizon. You will
have full access to everything in my house and will be taking care of by me.

Lastly I would want you to know that we can arrange a part time English
study for you which is very near to my house and we will make all necessary
payments that's if you want to study. Hope you are satisfied with my
arrangements for you. If so kindly write back to discuss further on how we will
arrange your travel plans for you so that you can join my family soonest. Please
do get back to me and If you have any question, do not hesitate to ask me, I
will be looking forward to hearing from you soonest.

happened to me the same thing the same letter I sent to my mail, and at first I thought it was all real, but when I speak to a lawyer to do the contract, I got in touch with the lawyer hehehe and charged to a contract 235 pounds.
In short here you have what his lawyer wrote.

We have been in the front field of assisting indigenous and non indigenous job seekers from acquiring their Contract Agreement Letter in United Kingdom in respect to their employees. Many people have been denied of their right and privilege and we have discovered that strange threat and illegal act to the society and have put a stop to that by asking and wanting anybody coming to work in the United Kingdom to obtain the Contract Agreement Letter/Permission be he/she will be allowed to work or take their respective occupation and services.

We would like to let you know that your Host family Mrs. Merlin Scott has informed us on your behalf that you are coming to work for her as an Au pair/Nanny in UK. First and foremost we would have to obtain the Contract Letter form for you at United Kingdom Law Chamber which will serve as a legal agreement between you and your employer in the following terms and conditions:

*PAYING OF YOUR FULL AND RIGHTFUL WAGES
* PROVISION OF SUITABLE ACCOMMODATION
* FARE TREATMENT
* DURATION/WORKING HOURS
* CONTRACTING ENDING
* AVOIDANCE OF CONFLICT ISSUES.
This Contract will sets out the terms and conditions of employment which are required to be given to the Employee under section 1 of the Employment Rights Act 1996. The Contract Letter will be given to you after which you are going to print it out, fill and sign in the appropriate box, so also your host family will sign her own portion after you have agreed to the terms and condition listed in the Contract letter and must be filled and return back within a week. When you are ready, you are to pay a sum of £235 GBP for the processing of the Contract Letter and registration to us through Western Union Money Transfer or Money Gram to;
Receiver Name: James Williams
Receiver Address: 28 Borough High Street
Southwark, London,
D14 5GH, United Kingdom.
Upon receipt of payment we will commence on the proper documentation of your Contract Letter. You are expected to send to us the following details about you too when you are sending the payment.

Thank you, lijoha, for posting further information about this scam, and for including the fake lawyer's email address. This will be very helpful for other au pairs who google this address, because they will then be able to know also that it is a scam.

ok well, check what she told me when I disclosed her as a scammer:

I must tell you emphatically that all was a lie because the Au Pair i intended to employ even before you had disagreement with me over salary and thus she reported me without any prior notice, so my Lawyer is taking the matter start from Tuesday because there is Easter holiday here in UK at the moment. Am not forcing you to join my family, you have the right to choose whoever you want to work for.

seems so legit - NOT! :roll:
