Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Manticora Sun Apr 08, 2012 6:30 pm
1ºHello,

I saw your profile on Aupair-options.com,We are a professional couple, living here in the UK .Our kids are fairly easy going and relaxed, they would enjoy someone with lots of energy and enthusiasm. Having English as a first language is not required and in fact, we would entertain the nanny speaking to them in her own mother-tongue.If however you accept to take a position with us, you would be Paid £1,500.00 (One Thousand Five hundred Pounds Sterling) as monthly Salary and a weekly pocket money of £200. Do well to send us your resume & also an update picture of yourself, and we would get in touch with them. Should the outcome be positive, we would send you a Contract Letter. We shall discuss travel arrangements in due course of which I would be of generous assistance to you. You can reach me on my personal e-mail and phone number to indicate your interest,my email address is [email protected] and my phone number:+447011150552.

We sincerely look forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes

Ken Gershwin

2ºHello

How are you doing today? Hope well and in the best of health? Thank you for your prompt and positive response. It was nice to get to hear from you, I also think you have good personality so we have considered hiring you for your services. However as regards your flight expenses that will be handled by my family and also some other relevant documents you might be needing to proceed over legally, I will arrange for an immigration attorney that will write a contract agreement
letter that we both we have to sign and date on the contract letter for future purpose. Let me know if you are okay with it. We reside in Manchester London and you will have your own private accommodation in our home. But first let me tell you a little bit more about my family, We are down to earth people not arrogant, we respect our employee’s opinion very much, my kids (Kate 5yrs and Jany 3yrs )are the most adorable things on the face of the earth i love them so much and so will you I hope. We are also easy going people my family and I.I leave for work early in the morning 7.30am, my kids both attend the same school they leave at 8.30am come back by 1.00pm.The family does a lot of outings, we go hiking sometimes my family and I, also to the beach together the whole family. We are a religious family, so we also attend services every Wednesdays & Sundays. If I may ask do you practice your religion as well?

Best wishes
Ken for the family

Well done, Manticora!

You're learning quickly how to spot a scam! A couple of obvious signs:
The telephone # of Barr.Donaldson +447024084503 is a re-direct number, a sure sign of a scam. Made to look like it's a UK phone number but it's not. It can be answered anywhere in the world.
The use of Western Union money transfer. This service exists for people to send money to family and friends. Someone who you know in real life. Thieving scammers want you to use WU because it's untracable. If a payment to Western Union is requested it's automatically a scam!
Then there is the baloney about the barrister/attorney who is working with the Au pair family to help you with a work visa or something that he will then charge fees for. Learn what the requirements are, for working abroad. Learn what each countries rules are for allowing an Au pair to join a family.
Lastly, learn how to find the headers of an email so that you can trace them. Usually you can see what city and country the message was sent from. That's powerful protection!

Edited to add - please read this thread to know exactly what to look for... http://scamwarners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3019

Good one Manticora because your report will stop someone being skimmed in future. Any time you see these phone numbers beginning with 4470 in an email is not favourable. viewtopic.php?f=26&t=13567 is an earlier post that better describes these re-direct phone numbers.
