Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Chris Fuller Thu Jul 05, 2012 7:46 am
This scammer has a fake host family profile which is copied from two profiles of genuine families. This scammer also hopes to escape detection as a scammer by using an Australian telephone number: +61262659111. This number, however, can also be used in other countries, including West Africa.

We hope that this letter finds you well and hope that you are looking forward to your trip to Australia. We are fine and the boys are fine too.

Well, we did had a discussion with my partner regarding your trip and he showed willingness to help with your visa and ticket. However,we are being very careful on this particular issue cause we have been victims of migration scams. We have had bad experience from Mexico and Philippines,we sponsored ladies, send them money for visa and tickets but they don’t show up as expected.

With the exchange visa subclass 411,we will be sponsoring you to enter Australia through an organization/migration agent. We ask you to go through the Exchange visa {Subclass 411} and see all the requirements, http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/specialist-entry/411/

We did settle for MLA MIGRATION CONSULTANCY registration number: 0105231 cause it’s the cheapest and the agency has lots of experience on migration matters. You can check that with the office of MARA and verify if indeed it’s a genuine agency and its status. We will send you $350 and you’ll add $450 to make the total of $800 for your exchange visa and background checks which will be payable to the migration agent in form of a bankers cheque when we are through with your preliminary visa application with DIAC {http://www.immi.gov.au/}.We also undertake to pay for your ticket {Return} to facilitate your travel. Please note that the starting date might vary slightly and it will depend on the visa issuance.

If you’re comfortable with the above,I would like you to send me the following documents urgently;and if you’re not comfortable, then you’ll need to apply for the visa yourself,we will provide any assistance you might need.

1.Scanned copy of your passport
2.Passport size photo of yourself, taken against light background and measuring 2"2.
3.Scanned copy of your birth certificate and national identification card.
4.Your academic certificates.
5.Police check.

Also, include your postal address, telephone number, next of kin and physical address as well.

You will be enrolled at a Public college to attend a course in English for foreigners for the duration of your stay,we will incur the costs of your English course.

We look forward to having you with us and are sure that our association will be a long and happy one.

Yours faithfully.

Kerri-Ann Plowman.

Please note that the scammer's suggested visa is the incorrect visa for an au pair. The Exchange Visa (Subclass 411) is for employees of organisations and agencies only. You can confirm this here:

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/speciali ... ponsor.htm

To become an au pair in Australia, you will need to eligible to apply for, and meet the requirements for, one of the visas listed here:

http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working ... ptions.htm

Please also see 'Protect Yourself from Migration Fraud':

http://www.immi.gov.au/migration-fraud/ ... formed.htm

Note also: MLA Migration Consultancy is a legitimate MARA registered agent, as the scammer states. But, the email address for the agent, given by this scammer, will not be the genuine email address of the genuine Consultancy.
