Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Chris Fuller Wed Aug 01, 2012 1:22 am
This is not a genuine au pair opportunity; it is a scam. The redirect telephone number +44 (0) 701 112 1618 was also used as a fake solicitor's telephone number in this scam (scroll down to see it used in the fake agreement):

You need to sign the contract after going through it

Welcome L,

I am sorry you were targeted by these scammers. As you now know, it is a definite scam. There is no job, only scammers trying to steal your money.

I would, however, suggest that your real name not be connected to your posts, as it can lead to the scammers harassing you further. If you would like to send me a pm with a different available user name, I can change your name for you so that it is not an issue.

It is understandable that you are very angry about this scammer. It is a shocking experience when a stranger tells lies to you in an attempt to steal your money.

This scammer, however, is far away in Nigeria. And, as he is also using a false name and fake details - and he will have set up his email account with fake details also - and he is probably using an anonymous internet café as well, he will not be worried by your threats.

The best thing that we can do, therefore, is publicize the scammers and their scams, and warn others about them. This you have helped to do by posting his scam mails. Scammers send the same emails to dozens of au pairs at the same time, and so many other au pairs can be helped by this warning.

To help protect yourself from other scams, it will be useful for you to know the real regulations about becoming an au pair in various countries. For example, only citizens of a very small number of countries may become an au pair in the UK. You can read about this here:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... ityscheme/

If you also click on 'Conditions of your stay' on the left hand side of that webpage, you will be able to confirm that this is the correct visa for au pairs.

For information about becoming an au pair in other popular countries, there is a useful overview here:

http://www.aupair-world.net/au_pair_program/

Pay particular attention to any requirements you might need to fulfill, and also to how much pocket money you can expect to receive. Be very cautious about any family who suggests a different method of becoming an au pair, or offers you a lot more money than is usual for that country - this is typical of many scammers.

Don't worry Lynette we aren't pulling you down. Venting the spleen is a good way of getting past it. Glad you are not caught out. As is pointed out read the UK border agency rules carefully or anywhere else as well. Deal direct with these government agencies and not with 3rd parties sent to you in these emails. You can find your own links if you need any help, but usually you won't need it if you read the agencies comprehensive advices. As a general rule some indicators are being asked to send photocopies and money via Western Union or Moneygram. Businesses and Governments never use such methods as it is like giving money to an employee. Both methods are actually unavailable to these as transfers are only for individuals and any such idea is always a scam. Send nothing of course. You can find posts about visa and employment scams on this site.

please help me to check if out if this host family is real

Dear Lynette

As i wrote to you from Vienna airport I'm not a Nigerian scammer, I am a Dane living in Denmark who want to hire you as an aupair.

As i told youIi have been i little bit apprehensive to put my picture and pictures of my family on the au pair website , for privacy matters, however if you see my business website (same as the last bit of my email address ) you can read about me and my family. My wife and me are living at separate addresses at the moment, but we are still married.

I hope that when You receive the application form and au pair contract , that this will convince you.

I goggled myself and here is one of the links with pictures.
