Scams offering fake Au Pair positions
by Chris Fuller Mon Sep 03, 2012 4:44 am
This is not a genuine au pair opportunity; it is a scam. If you are looking for an au pair position in the USA, please read these US Government webpages about the US Au Pair Program:

http://exchanges.state.gov/jexchanges/p ... upair.html

Do not send money to any agency, embassy, lawyer, or other person introduced to you by a potential host family.

Subject: Au Pair needed in California

Dear Au pair

I am a 45 year old single father of two lovely children, my daughter
Marie who is six years old and my son Jesse who is five years old, I'm
looking for a responsible au pair capable of assisting my children and
being a possitive role model for them. I am easy going but expect
fundamental values, morals and respect exercised in our home. I would
like someone who knows how to develop courage, responsibility and
self-esteem in children, along with positive discipline techniques.
After looking at your profile on easyaupair.com I think you would be a
good candidate for this job, you will have your own private bedroom
with TV and central air conditioning. We live in a comfortable home in
San Francisco with plenty of activities in the area.

I look forward to hearing from you so we can discuss more.

Have a nice day

Henry

Subject: Hello Au Pair

Hello

I am really glad to hear back from you and to know you are interested
being our au pair. Like I explained in the last email I have two
children Marie and Jesse, I've attached some pictures of the family
for you. I lost my wife a few years ago so my kids mean the world to
me. I work as a pilot for a private airline and may have to be away
for long periods. We had an au pair earlier this year but she has had
to leave to go back to school. We live in a lovely part San Franciso
(Do you know where it is?). It's a very nice neighbourhood and is
close to the malls, schools and and most of the social places. There
are lots of young people in the area and a couple au pairs as well.
The kids have alot of friends here so they are always occupied with
something but I need a pair of responsible eyes keeping watch over
them.

If you choose to accept this job you will have to live with us in your
own room, it's free and meals are free as well. You will need to work
from 8am to 6pm on regular days and I may need you to watch them for
longer when I am away for a long period. The salary on offer is
$450/week which will make sure you are compencated for the extra time
you are required to stay on.

On weekends we like to do things as a family, maybe go to a movie the
beach, etc. You are welcome to join us because we would like to regard
you as family while you are here with us.

I hope this is all acceptable for you, I'd like to know how soon you
would be available if required to start? The job will be for 6-12
months. We hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers!
Henry

Subject: Description

I’m happy to hear from you again, I have told the kids they will have
a new au pair soon and they are very excited. How are things going
with you? Hopefully this reaches you well and you are as excited as we
are about this. I would really love a chat as well please send me your
number and we will get started on sorting out your visa.

Below is the description of a typical day here highlighting the more
important things you need to do and other things we will sort out
along the way.

From Monday to Friday
You will start by 8:00 with getting breakfast for the kids and making
sure they are ready for school on time. If you are able to drive then
I have a car you can use to drive them to school and use for other
errands. School is about 20 minutes’ drive from where we live. If you
cannot drive then there is a bus which takes about 25 minutes to get
to the school.

You are also responsible for light housekeeping which just means
keeping the house in the state it is because we have a maid who comes
to clean twice a week. You’ll also have to handle grocery shopping for
the house and sort out the kids laundry.

If you can cook, then you are welcome to do so if not I will make sure
the cooking is taken care of so there will always be food available
for you and the kids.

When school closes you will need to pick the kids up from school and
engage them in activities until later when I get back home or when you
have closed for the day.

Your room in the house comes with its own bathroom. Like I said
earlier if you have a driver’s license you can use the car.

Hopefully all this is understandable and acceptable to you, please let me know.

Regards

Henry

The agency - which also uses the email address [email protected] - is also fake, and is part of the scam. The agency website was created by the scammer, and their offers and reassurances, including the testimonials from satisfied clients, are fake and untrue.

Hi

Hope this reaches you well, I have told the kids about our new au pair
and they are very excited hopefully you enjoy your stay with us and we
do too. I am happy we have come to an understanding regarding your
duties and I feel we need to sort out your contract. For this I need
to confirm how long you plan to stay, the job is for a minimum of 4
months and a maximum one year with the posibility of an extension
after that. I will also need to confirm you have a valid passport, if
you do please send me your full name as it is written on your passport
(including middle name if any), and your address.

When the contract is ready I will sign and email you a scanned copy to
sign as well, the visa and flight arrangements will be handled by the
agency who helped our last au pair. They will tell you what other
documents you need to apply for your visa, their website is
http://www.au-pairaide.webs.com and their email is [email protected].
Contact them and tell them I am your employer and you need help coming
over to the US. We will cover the cost of the actual flight (Plane
Tickets), while you will cover the cost of your visa. We'd really love
to hear back from you so have a wonderful day and don't forget to
smile.

Best Wishes,
Henry
