This is a scam - In this case the words "Western Union" are the giveaway.

Western Union and MoneyGram transactions are intended only for transactions between yourself and people that you personally know, trust and have met before. The transaction details should never be disclosed to a third party.

Despite what a scammer might tell you, Western Union and MoneyGram Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with a minimum of identification, or even none at all. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected.

Please post the e-mail address of the scammer - this will help others searching for similar details

Yes Michelle has summed the situation rather well. re: Kindly use Western Union money transfer as this is the only fastest way of payment from your country to the United States to start your visa process with no delay, bank transfer takes several weeks to clear.
No legitimate real company would make such a statement!
The reason the fraudulant scammer makes the suggestion of wu is it's quicker for the trickster to get it's hand on your cash sooner. Once collection is complete, it disappears off into the sunset laughing all the way. Meanwhile, no recourse or refund is available and you lose out.

I see you reference a J-1 visa, so I assume you are trying to obtain a position as an au pair.

The US has very strict laws governing au pair work. As part of those rules, the US government has published a list of sponsors: http://j1visa.state.gov/participants/how-to-apply/sponsor-search/?program=Au%20Pair&state=any

In order to get a J-1 visa, you MUST be sponsored by one of the agencies on this list. If you are referred to anyone else, it is a scam, absolutely no doubt about it.

If you are given the name of an agency, and it matches a name on this list, then you still need to contact the agency USING THE INFORMATION ON THE US GOVERNMENT'S PUBLISHED LIST to verify that you are being sponsored by the real agency, and are not dealing with thieves who are simply pretending to be with a real agency.

Since we know this is a scam, could you also post the name and email addresses used by the fake family and by the fake agency? Posting that information will help others to avoid being scammed.

OK, as a starter, the language used, and spelling is far from professional. Personally, those who can't write a legible sentence in English , be this US or UK, are not to be trusted. I worked in the US in 1977, and the employment situation was miserable to say the least. I forced the 'employers' to return all documents and thankfully had no other problems, but what is going on today is 1000% more than then. Stay away !
