by Au-Pair-USA-2013 Thu Mar 28, 2013 9:45 am
I think Paul is a scammer. Am I right?

I got the following response (with 5 family pictures added):

Thanks for the reply, we want you not as an aupair alone but as part of the the family.I want my kid to be happy not with me alone but with you too and we believe you can give me all they need. You will be living with us. you will have your private room which will have bathroom,toilet,television,air-conditional.You will have access to the internet and the telephone at home to get in touch with your friends and loved ones. You can provide your phone number so that i can give you a call if i have the time. your job as an aupair is mainly taking good care of the kids,i will be paying you $700 per week and you can drive the kids if only you want to, since you are part of our family you be provided board meal and no work on holidays,I am looking for someone that me and our children can treat as part of a family/friend and not just as a nanny/aupair. Marc 7 and Lia 10 ,they easy to get along with, we want to make you feel comfortable and at home, they are easy going, and down to earth. I would like you as an aupair/nanny to be comfortable care giving partner/companion/sister that is caring, flexible, and will have fun with our family. I would also love our au pair to go shopping with us, go out to eat with us, go to the movies with us, participate in family events, go on trips with us we love going to amusement parks, share holidays with us, etc.--become a part of our family. We really want someone who will be pro actively talk, sing, laugh, interact, engage with the kids We would really enjoy a light-heated, fun, and enthusiastic person who's ready for a worthy experience with a young, active family. The working hour is just 8hours per day from 8am to 4pm this is negotiable anyway, and your responsibility in my house is just to take care of my kids, taking them to the school bus, and you will pick them up from which is just a km from our house. This responsibility does not involve you cooking.Marc loved to play basketball and swimming and he loves to be happy all the time and like to take up challenges i think he behaves very matured than his age. While Lia is always playing the girls role, she likes cooking, love swimming too and dancing too, very intelligent and ready to learn anything. You will be having Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays as your off days,so you can have enough time for yourself. I will be happy if you can arrive in our house by the time you said you will come, i just want you to be sincere and serious about coming to help us in our family, If it is okay with you.

Do you have International passport ?
Do you have valid visa to USA?

I will like you to get back to me, i am willing to assist on visa processing if you don't have valid visa to state , I will go and contact the US Embassy consulate that did papers for our previous aupair

The pay is out of range and there are traces of West African in the writing. If he tells you to contact a travel agent in the USA to get a visa to come to the USA, it's a scam.

I can tell you right now that it's 100% scam.

Besides the English (and certain things in the script that I have seen way too many times before), he is already ignoring the real au pair visa process.

In order to get a visa to be an au pair in the US, you must be sponsored by one of the agencies on the official list posted by the US government here: http://j1visa.state.gov/participants/ho ... =&x=14&y=8

A prospective family would NEVER go to the consulate to get your visa. They would pay the agency a fee to sponsor you, and the agency would work with you to verify that you are eligible and arrange your visa. Note that the agency MUST be on the official list. If any family sends you to an agency, and they are not on this list, then it is a definite scam. And, since some scammers may pretend to represent the real agency, the only way to confirm they are real is to CALL the agency at the number posted on the official list, and verify that they are sponsoring you. If a family gives you a name, phone number, or email address for an agency that is not on that list, they are fake.
