Old global travels are still trying to scam people are they?
See here http://scamwarners.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=26307
Then look viewtopic.php?f=42&t=21947 and scroll down the page a wee way. Then from April of 2010 we see viewtopic.php?f=42&t=7686
Then global-travel hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons at http://www.consumeraffairs.com/travel/g ... ravel.html

Travel agencies do not arrange visas.

If you are looking for an au pair position in the US, it is very important that you familiarize yourself with the US government's rules regarding au pairs. The US has very strict regulations regarding au pairs. You can ONLY become an au pair if you are sponsored by one of the agencies on this official list: http://j1visa.state.gov/participants/how-to-apply/sponsor-search/?program=Au%20Pair&state=any These real agencies will have extensive applications you must complete, and they will review your childcare experience and qualifications to make sure you are eligible to work in the US as an au pair. They will also arrange for you to be interviewed face-to-face by someone in your area before you are offered a position.

If a "family" claims they can hire you directly, or if they refer you to an agency that is not on this list (or if they refer you to a travel agent or attorney) then they are fake. If the family gives you the name of an agency on the official list, you need to follow the link FROM THE OFFICIAL LIST to the agency's website, then contact the agency THROUGH THEIR WEBSITE OR AT THE PHONE NUMBER ON THE OFFICIAL LIST, and verify that they are indeed arranging a position for you. Otherwise, it can be a scammer using a real agency's name.
