Income tax return fraud accusations - Austin Charles

Another scam intended to catch accountants but being mass-mailed to people without regard to whether they're really accountants or not. (This was sent to a scamwarners.com address!) The clickable link to a "pdf" actually goes to a malware site which will infect your computer and steal your personal data.

Dear accountant officer,

We have been notified of your recent assistance in income tax refund infringement on behalf of one of your employers. According to AICPA Bylaw Subsection 600 your Certified Public Accountant license can be terminated in case of the fact of filing of a false or fraudulent tax return for your client or employer.

Please familiarize yourself with the complaint below and provide your feedback to it within 7 days. The failure to provide the clarifications within this time-frame will result in withdrawal of your Accountant license.

The email really comes from Malaysia, sent through a hijacked computer in Chicago. If you were to click the link in the email your own computer could end up being used to spam thousands of emails in the same manner.
