This is new for me so sorry if I don't know the correct terms.

There is a scammer online at the moment

mikelee197979@yahoo.?com

he/she is trying to get money sent via western union to cover so called pick up costs for a large order of items from my website and from a website called worthpoint where some of my products are advertised.

The story is, he is on board a ship and needs the goods for his cousin ( in later emails it turns into his dad) and he can only pay by paypal and wants the goods picked up by his own agent.
To cut a long story short the scam finally appears as a request for you (me) to pay for the pick up agent inadvance via Western union, as he is having problems getting the agent paid.

He is online at the moment, if anyone knows how to send him a email bomb I would grateful for the info.

Welcome to ScamWarners clivedavey. Will you please post up the first one or two emails you received from him? Oftem people search using parts of emails they have received.

It is great that you recognized this was a scam.

I am not sure what you mean by an "email bomb". If you are suggesting sending some kind of virus or something harmful to the computer he is using, that is actually an illegal activity in many countries, so we do not suggest or encourage such activities.

We expose the scammer for what they are and educate people and support those who have become victims to a scammer.

I hope you will help us by posting up some more information. Thank you.

I have also received three emails from the same scammer. Here is the second email from him.
Thanks for your respond,i am an oceanographer and am currently on the sea at the moment, i am buying the item as a gift for my cousin,i want to make it a surprise gift for my cousin, my cousin won't know anything about the gift until they get delivered to my cousin. So i want you to reassure me that the item is in good condition as you have described. I can only pay through PayPal. So please kindly get back to immediately so i can proceed with the payment and after the payment has been done,i have a pick up agent that will come around to pick the Item up immediately after payments.......Get back to me with your direct email address and your phone number so i can contact your directly.
Looking forward to hear from you soon
Mike Lee

Here is the third email.
Hello
Thanks for your response ,i just want you to know that I'm about to make the payments when i had this little problem with the picking up of the Item, I think you remember what i said in my previous mail that I'm working presently on the sea and i am buying the item for my dad so i tried to secure booking with my pick up agent, but they asked me to pay first before they can make the booking, and they only accept Western Union Money Transfer for payments and they don't accept PayPal or bank transfer. So I tried to send the money online but it's not going through and I am on the sea there is no way i can find a western union agent to make the transfer to my pick up agent, so i wanted to ask if it will be OK for me to include my pick up agent's fees together with your payments through PayPal,So you will help me wire the pick up fee to them via western Union Money Transfer immediately i pay you.I don't mean to bother you I'm sure you understand that I'm presently on the sea and there is nothing i can do to that. The bottom line is after I have made the payments via PayPal,you will help me wire my pick up agent fee to them through western union money transfer, I just wanted to seek your consent before going ahead with the payments,I will be very happy if my offer is given a favorable consideration,Respond as soon as possible so that i can send out your Payment.
Regards

Hi there,

I would like to say that I have come across this scammer as well. He is not only targeting businesses but individuals who happen to be selling items online as well. I am not a business owner but a university student who is trying to sell her second hand prom/formal dress online. I received an email from him in not very clear english with the exact same story of how he was an oceanographer who was buying the dress for his cousin.

Things did not become really suspicious however until he made a slip up. In one of his emails instead of referring to the dress as a dress he referred to it as a 'Headband'. This coupled with the fact that he had an odd method of paying and receiving the goods (same story with Western Union) convinced me he was a scammer. I decided to google his email address and sure enough this forum topic came up and confirmed to me my suspicions.

The last email from him:

I have just made the payment and Paypal emailed me confirming this please check your Paypal email address for the Paypal confirmation email,Paypal said that they would be holding the money i sent because of the excess payment that i made which was the money for the shippers, i will need you to help me send the $450 for pick up to the shippers so they can be able to book a pick up time with you in time and Paypal will put the money through as well , as i am sure you wont let the Headband be picked up until the money goes into your account and you are credited with $1,000 so please do send the $450 through western union money transfer,I added $50 to cover the western union charges to send the $450 making a total of $1,000 that i sent. after you have sent the money please get back to me as soon as possible with the western union details, the mtcn number which you will be given by western union after you have sent the money as well as the sender's name and address so i can forward it back for your money to be put through or you can email it to Paypal directly, thats alright as well. Here is shipper's info that you will need to send the money to through western union money transfer :

I had similar experience from a person claining to be John templain who indicated he was a model and unable to pick up items and would send is personal assistant. He got my name from the website and wanted to order a whole bunch of items and could buy through website as his credit card had been breached and I should use paypal. OUr Scentsy group has a lots of this and unfortunatley one learned the hard way. He wanted stuff that had been discontinued and I polietly emailed back suggesting he should take a better look at the catalogue and go get a pre-paid credit card and provided him with the amount of his purchase so he could get the card for the correct amount when he made his purchase through the website, since he would not tell me where is assistanct was located how could we arrange for pick up. He answered back twice about not having cc and I just continued to say go get a Pre-paid one has no effect on you previous one. Haven't hear from him again

Interestingly enough I had an email today from Mr. John Templain (email address [email protected]) regarding a vehicle I posted on Craigslist! :yikes:

Below are the email exchanges, all today: it took me until the 2nd email when the grammar was off that I realized it could be a scam, and the 3rd & 4th email regarding PayPal confirmed it:

Email 1

I will like to know if your listed truck is still available for sale and as well as the asking price for it.

Thanks

Email 2

Email 3
