This is a cheque over payment scam. The scammer will send a fake cheque for the cost of the accomodation, but also ask to pay for flights or similar, with that money being sent by Western Union to a fake travel agent.

payment arrangement with the sponsor, now a certified cheque will be
forwarded to you immediately, so that once you receive it,deposit
this?.
and keep the balance which will be use by the University Students and
their guide which i will give you instructions on what to do with the
balance.However,i will send the guide (AGENT) information as soon you
receive payment in your account.Remember all the bank charges will be
deducted from the cheque.Provide me with the following information, so
that the cheque will be made out to your name and forwarded to you
immediately;

Thanks for confirming the receipt of the cheque payment.Deposit the
cheque on your account for clearance, it will take 3 - 5 working days
for the money to arrive your account.Cheque payment has been
authenticated for an onward payment. All the booking charges and bank
charges will be deducted accordingly. Again although the amount of the
cheque is higher than the cost of your services, you have to
understand that in a group travel there are always what we unforeseen
expenditure that may arise in the process of this journey that was why
some balance was mapped out to take care of those cost that may arise.
Write me an email confirmation when you have the credit of the money
on your account. If there are more things to enjoy in your place do
not hesitates to inform me.
