Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Well, it looks like I have become a new member of this forum as a direct result from Mr Gary McDuff. I have all the whole forum to search for answers and it has been a good read. I am current out of pocket like everyone else by $260.60. We all seek a bargin price and we have ended up with a rock bottom service.

Like everyone, we too put trust in our Australian comrades in Business to do the right thing, but it seems that there is the occasional fox.

As like everyone, I have emailed and attempted to contact Mr Elusive McDuffer with no success. I have lodged a complaint with OFT and await their speedy response (hmmmm??????).

Anyway I have emailed all 3 email address and askus@petfood247 is now inactive.

My next step is to contact the NSW Police to determine if Mr McDuff and Petfood247 business conduct is considered as credit card fraud. I will investigate tomorrow. I will post my finding tomorrow. I will also contact the NSW Ombudsman to determine if there is a way to shut Petfoods47 website down for good.
I post my findings even if I receive my goods.

I have just rceived a call from Office of Fair Trading. I was told they have spoken to Mr. Mcduff and he is sending me a refund cheque. OFT has a ph. no. for him which they will not disclose. He told them the goods were dispatched but weren't delivered. I wait to see if he is genuine, but I won't be convinced until the cheque, if I do get it, is cleared. This mans business practices are trully unbelievable. I will let you now if I receive the cheque or not, I live in hope ha ha.

Thanks for the update,

I am glad to hear that the OFT has been able to help you (so we suspect you dont have your refund cheque yet)

If anybody else is in the same situation you should be asking to have the money replaced into your bank account, my background is not banking and certainly may not have any legal ground but I would think that seeing as the money was removed from your bank account, it should be replaced into your bank account rather than waiting for a cheque to arrive and clear which could take weeks by the time you have access to your money again.

Still, I consider it to be a win;

the OFT has done something
McDuff knows that the OFT are on to him
and
It looks like you are getting a refund

I have bought the product on ebay since and got it at a much better price. I will now only buy on ebay as they don't let people such as this guy on their site.

Just received the first phone call from Fair Trading. After I told them the sad story they rang Petfood247 and then rang me back immediately to say the goods are being shipped today and if I don't receive them by Thursday to get back to them.

Let's see what happens on Thursday

Thanks for the update, it sounds like fair trading are starting to get a little more serious, no doubt as a result of numerous complaints from people here, well done.

Lets hope it is enough to encourage McDuff to start doing the right thing.

Sadly I dont hold high hopes :(

Well just to keep you guys updated I've received "the email" to say my goods have been despatched. It will be interesting to see if and when I receive them. I dare say my email last night threatening Today/Tonight (thanks for the idea Cargo) and reminding him how those reporters like a story about scammers may have prompted the email to keep me quiet. However, I'll remain positive and hope to see my goods soon. At least a couple of you guys have managed to get the OFT to do something. What OFT offices have you all been dealing with so I can tell my local OFT to liaise? I'll keep you all posted.

Hello all,

I have the same story as everyone else, paid for $200+ of goods via Credit Card early last week then I decided to google the site name after the goods hadn't been sent in the 3 day delievery time frame quoted. I came across this webite and contacted my bank straight away, as well as trying to contact petfood247 via phone and email.. no hope there. My bank said it'll take up to 6 weeks to see my money back, so if he tried to send me the goods or cheques I won't accept them and send them back to the sender, that way it doesn't look like we came to a agreement and the bank will still go after petfood247 for the money possibly blacklisting the company.

Just received an email saying goods have been dispatched this morning, although DOFT said he promised they would arrive this morning.

Garry doesn't seem too scared does he :?

Update for you;

Fair trading JUST called me, (i missed the call UGH), message stated that he will be refunding my money paid to my bank account.
Will call fair trading back and confirm some more details.
But better then nothing.

My suggestion would be to call OFT to see what can be done for you.

Here's the sorry end to my saga:

The heart-worm tablets arrived today by courier - that was good.

They were the wrong strength, instead of being for Small Dogs 4-11kg they were for Very Small Dogs up to 4kg. Not a big mistake from the supplier's point of view, there was less than $2 difference in the price.

BUT..... As they are only 40% as strong as the ones I ordered I will have to double the dose - so instead of $34.75 lasting six months it will last only three - that is very bad

I complained to DOFT again and they rang him and he agreed to replace them if I returned them. So what do you think my chances of getting them redelivered this side of Christmas might be :laugh-s:

I reckon I'll hang onto the bird in the hand and cut my loss.

I got the impression the DOFT thought they had a good resolution here. They said if i wasn't happy I could go to tribunal. Whose side are they on :x

I checked with the manufacturer re the correct dose and told them why I was having a problem. Their comment about the merchant was that he was a very shonky dealer :yikes:

Hi Everyone,
Previously I posted my complaint of petfood247, could not see my post anymore but anyway, I have received my order of 2 packs of cat litters last week delivered by Fastway courrier. I knew the courrier charge quite expensive for such heavy weight delivery and I paid $5.5 only. The order takes 2 weeks for me to receive.

To be honest, why the business operator bother to keep running the website?

Mcduff told fair trading he would post a refund cheque on monday, no cheque received by friday. I will be moving forward to recover the money with my bank. I'm not going to bother with the OFT anymore. Let the banks deal with this fool.

He just uses stalling tactics. He said my order sent on Tuesday 6 July - nothing received. I think because I threatened aggressive reporters would be landing on his doorstep from Today/Tonight that he said my order despatched. Even if posted I should have it by now. I too will forget OFT and just deal with bank to get money back. OFT hopeless. There's nothing "fair" in this idiots "trading".
