Welcome to ScamWarners paul116 and congratulations on recognizing a scam when you see one. Yes, if it sounds too good to be true, it is most likely a scam

Hi,

Just registered to add another alias to this thread! Again, Friday-Ad, this time a Ford S-Max at a price that made my well honed cynicism to kick in;

Hello,
I apologize for the delay, I'm in the military and that's why I couldn't reply in time. I don't have access to a phone, so we will communicate through e-mails. Anyway, thank you for your interest in buying my car...It is Petrol. The car comes as described, in perfect esthetically and functional condition, no accidents, no scratches, no dents,no hidden defects, kept it in a garage, no need for additional repairs and I have all the necessary documents to make the sale. Full service history. HPI clear. I was deployed yesterday in Gibraltar and I think I'll stay here for a while that's why I'm selling it so cheap. I intend to buy a new car when I'll get back home. I will use a third part to sell this car (PayPal or Escrow.com). Let me know if you are interested in a purchase.
Thanks, David

The fact that the first email I sent went to a completely different address, then followed by (to me) an odd email in response... also reported to Friday Ad though!

Dear All,

I have just had an email regarding a Porsche Cayman S that claims to be CAT D hence the price:

Hello,
I apologize for the delay, I'm in the military and that's why I couldn't reply in time. I don't have access to a phone, so we will communicate through e-mails. Anyway, thank you for your interest in buying my car... My last price is £6,500. I was deployed yesterday in Gibraltar and I think I'll stay here for a while that's why I'm selling it so cheap. I intend to buy a new car when I'll get back home. I will use a third part to sell this car (PayPal or Escrow.com). Let me know if you are interested in a purchase.

I don't know what made me google the name of Sgt David Clift this evening but I did and here you all are having the exact same emails! Either Sgt Clift is a bad seed or 23 Pioneer Regiment is full of crooks! I'm inclined to think it is the first! I found the ad through Trovit cars via Friday Ad. I will be reporting this after I finish writing on here. I am very grateful to have stumbled upon this site and felt compelled to register!

Thanks guys stumbled accross this site trying to verify details of an Audi A3 seller, we received the exact same e-mail but this time using the name David Blair, this site has confirmed our suspicions. Great way to spread the word & prevent scammers like him from lining their pockets!
by Ktg309 Fri Sep 07, 2012 12:56 pm
As the Audi A3 was quite distinctive with a panoramic roof & in a baby blue colour, the photos were taken with a pylon in the background, perusing e-bay I stumbled by chance across the genuine advert so also alerted the sellers that there details were being used by this con artist.

Just thought you would like to know he has added another alias: Sgt David Miller - same regiment but now in Gibralter - also sent his first e-mail from the David Clift address. FridayAds tell me they have removed the orginal add (fora Toyota Landcruiser) and blocked the advertiser but I expect he will return with a different alias

"Hi again and sorry for the delay,
Before leaving I had prearranged shipping and the payment with PayPal (the most secure way to pay and get paid) so my presence isn't necessary(The car is at our 23 Pioneer Regiment RLC based in Bicester, near Oxford). The Logistic Department will deliver the car to your home. The price includes all the shipping costs and insurance, so you won't have to pay any extra charges. Since I work with the Army the delivery process is not an issue, I'll have the car shipped at your home address in maximum 2 days.
Here is what I suggest: we will use PayPal services, you'll make the payment in an PayPal managed account trust fund ( they'll hold the money until you'll receive the car ), I will send the car over( the car will be delivered with the owner's manual, service records, and of course the bill of sale authorized and signed by me),I will offer a 5 day period from the day you'll receive the car , you can inspect it, take it to a mechanic to check it out, drive it and then if you decided to keep it, you'll confirm to PayPal the sale and they will send the payment to me. If, by any reason, you will not be satisfied with it ( even though I can assure you that it is exactly as described), you can return it at my expense for a full refund of your money, no questions asked .Please note, that the return of my car will be made, only after you will get your deposit back. I think this is more than fair for the both of us.
The payment is refundable, and is just a security measure, to make sure that the buyer is serious, and that I am not going to ship the car, and loose time and money. Your payment is 100% covered, because I have open a Trust Account with PayPal and if something goes wrong, you will get a full refund from my account. If you are interested to go ahead with the deal, please reply with your full name, phone # and shipping address so I can ask PayPal to open a case! After, they will contact you explaining all the details regarding the payment.
I'm looking forward to hear from you.
David

Scam still on the go 14/09/12. Friday-Ad site, Black Toyota Aygo 2006, the price and mileage was too good to be true!
2 emails received from Jack Marwerik <[email protected]> who suprisingly was in the military, no access to a phone, deployed yesterday to Gib etc
Dodgy regiment logo at the end of the email and poor written english made me think twice. Your website confirmed my thoughts, so thank you to all!

Reported to Friday-Ad and it's been removed from their site within the hour :D

Exact same detail as all the other emails , just a name change . Trying to contact the police about this and have contacted Friday ads about it . I only live 10 miles away from the base so went to have a look , name and story didn't really add up , and the regiment crest looked funny . Put the name jack marwerik into google and found this site . I'm now trying to get more information out of them for the police

Yes i confirm that £1850 , a2 1.4tdi , blue , 55 plate is correct . They told me that we must proceed with the official procedure. They will not permit any vehicle view, test, check at the custody place (neither the owner can pick up his vehicle... he will receive it at his home if he want that) because they have to many vehicles in custody. So it will be a chaos if every possible buyer would like to view or pick up the vehicle. That's why the seller must pay the shipping taxes.
I don't have anything to hide, but this is their procedure. We need to be both protected.Your payment is 100% covered, because I have open a Trust Account with PayPal and if something goes wrong, you will get a full refund from my account. PayPal will confirm this, when we will open the case with them.
If you are interested in a purchase, reply to me with your details.
Thanks,

Hi, Thanks for this site. Just sent the email of interest to this guy. My parents are ex-military and I have never heard of the logistics team delivering cars for anyone, unless it is specific military business. Smelt a rat at that point and went looking in google to see if this was a known scam.

Thought the car was too good to be true!
