Petfood247 scam
I also have had problems with Petfood 247. I ordered a catflap from them on 3.11.10. I received an order confirmation at the time , but have received no delivery some 5 weeks later, having paid them $75.
I emailed and phoned them and left a voicemail on 18.11.10 but have received no comminication whatsoever.
I have now formally reported them to the credit card company Westpac and the item is now in dispute. I encourage others to do the same. It is clear I am not the first to be duped by these fraudsters. This is the first time I have ever been ripped off buying stuff over the web, and I think we all deserve better than this. With any luck by combined action on the web we can make it difficult for these thieves to continue in business. Gary

|Welcome to Scamwarners. I hope you get your money back. According to an earlier post, he makes refunds by check, probably to protect his credit card facilities.

I feel like a complete idiot! I placed an order with petfood247 on the 4th of July and today it's the 10th of December and after many emails and phone calls still nothing...

I was sure that seeing as I had made the purchase online that I wouldn't be able to do anything about it, so I pretty much forgot about it... See ya later $105.49!

I wish I had've seen this site months ago and had the smarts to contact my bank.

Does anyone know if there's anything I can do when I've left it for so long??

Burned,
You should still be able to get something done. Contact your bank as soon as possible and be sure to file a complaint with the office of fair trading, NSW.

Good luck!

Hi All,

I am adding my name to the long list of unsuspecting consumers who have been stung by this mob!!!
I ordered and paid for my items on the 11th November and have been trying to contact someone, anyone, from the so called business for the past 3 weeks. I decided to Google them 2 weeks in and was shocked to read all the posts here. I since tried to ring and email every number and address I found listed. Nothing! Nada! Zilch! Zippo!
I finally gave up last Thursday and contacted Fair Trading and filed a complaint. Then I sent emails informing Gary McDuff of what I had done. Miracle of miracles, just as predicted by you fellow "posters", Friday morning I had not 1 but 2 emails in my inbox!!! The first was an invoice and the second a dispatch notice claiming that my order had been posted that morning. I'm not getting too excited though, I want the goods in my hands before I celebrate. I'm a Pensioner and live on a tight budget and can't afford to throw money away and I certainly couldn't afford to pay for another elsewhere. Tamworth Fair Trading tried all the numbers and emails too and got nothing. I asked him why, with sooooooooooo many complaints, can't something be done? Typical Government answer: "These things take time." Yeah well, that might be OK for him, he's not 54 years old!! I don't have the time nor the inclination to wait for them to do something. I will definitely NOT be purchasing anything else from PetFood247 EVER and I recommend that everyone else do the same. Perhaps if he had no web orders, he might pull his socks up.(I still wouldn't buy from him!)
I wonder how many purchasers just think it's too hard to keep chasing him up for their orders? Imagine how much money he's pocketing for supplying and doing nothing? Well earned money he gets to keep for free from hard working Aussies!! It makes me sick to think about it.

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou to all who did the leg work finding email addresses and telephone numbers so us late comers could chase him up.

Forever endebted

Hi, everyone,
I filed my complaint against this guy with Fair Trading NSW, but I'm not passing the info on to Mr. McDuff. I did decide to give him a "reasonable" amount of time to reply to my voice mails and emails or ship the goods. (I ordered & paid on 10-Nov-2010).I don't think he deserves a heads-up.
Does anyone with any legal knowledge (in Australia) know if it would be a problem to take out ads in the newspaper(s) with something to the effect of "Buyer Beware!!! petfood247.com.au -Research online before you buy with them!!!"?

I'm already going to print out some notices to put on bulletin boards and hopefully at the Vet's.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how we can speed up this incredibly long process of getting him shut down? Fair Trading doesn't seem to be doing much, but then the wheels of government do grind very slowly. Surely there has to be some way. (Legal please!)
Thanks again & good luck to all. Have a great holiday season in spite of this individual "business person".

It could be risky if you personally undertake a campaign against this company JanH as he could retaliate with threats of legal action against you. Possibly the best you should do is stick to your own personal experience and post a link to this thread, that way you are not making personal statements he can dispute.

It is usual in the West for the truth to be allowed to be printed but beware of adding comments that could be construed as slanderous like 'criminal' or 'illegal', when this has not been established. Obviously your own opinion and fair comment is allowed if you consider you have received 'poor service' and you can point out that you have discovered many mentions on the web of experiences like your own. The risk is that you could allow yourself to get carried away with your comments.

If you paid by card, the simplest method to get your money back is to make a claim on your card company, and it has been reported that most of them know this company well, and don't create problems over it.

I can't fathom how this company manages to keep on trading.

Unfortunately, we all only find out about this petfood 247 website after the fact! I think it should be exposed to A Current Affairs, this way buyers will be informed BEFORE purchasing from this ratbag. Its just not on, un-Australian. If he had supplied...replied...or answered calls, we would be all happy and McDuff would have a successful business. I just don't get it. Would anyone be prepared to raise their voice with a TV program?

annie2,
I sent an email to A Current Affair a couple of weeks ago, but I am just one person. I haven't had any reply from them, but I would be willing to follow it through. I think we need more people to contact them in order to get them interested.

Good I will do the same, more the merrier.

Argggh - Another one without goods from this company here. I ordered on 2 Sept - too long ago for my credit card company to raise a dispute :-(

I was told by the bank to report to this site: http://www.econsumer.gov/ which I have done.
by JanH Fri Dec 17, 2010 12:43 am
LilacBlue,
Are you in Australia? If so, you have more options and your bank should be able to raise a dispute, even if it has been since September. I'm not sure why they said they couldn't. What bank are you with? Maybe call back and talk to someone in charge.
At any rate, file a report with:

NSW Fair Trade (http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/About ... laint.html)

and with the ACCC (https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/content/in ... portascam/)

The proprietor's name is Gary McDuff
ABN: 26215935282

Don't drop it and let him keep your hard-earned money. That's what he's hoping for!

Good luck

I cannot believe this company! I live abroad now and was travelling back home for a holiday. My cat is very sick with kidney disease and he needs to drink. Friends advised me (in the same situation) to buy this water fountain. I dutifully googled water fountains and found the one I wanted, I kept coming up with this pet store - PETFOOD247 - who was reasonable price - so I ordered and well of course they took my money straight away!! Alas, NO delivery. They were supposed to deliver to my friends house, I come down for a holiday and pick it up - but NOTHING. I have rung them many times - sometimes able to leave messages and sometimes it says mailbox full - but they empty it!!! So someone is controlling that phone. I have written countless of emails - nice and now not so nice and still no reply!!!! I wish I had done a google of the actual company name - I didnt think of that - until now and WOW cant believe what I've found!!!
I tried to report to consumer affairs but they sent me back an email saying I have to take it up with Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal and it costs money to go to the tribunal etc and you have to appear (a little difficult from overseas).
I tried calling the phone number of Gary McDuff but the guy says that is not him, he is sick of getting these calls (why doesnt he change phones then!? If it really isnt him)

I have written reviews on every pet site I can find that advertises PETFOOD247 to tell them how bad they are.

I will write to Current Affairs also.

I have gone to Westpac my bank, they were very good, temporarily credited my account with the money whilst they sort it out. Even if it was over a month ago.

I urge everyone to write reviews on other pet supplies websites you can find - we cant let this scumbag get away with this - he is STILL taking orders!!!!!!!!

We are glad that you found the information posted here utterly disgusted. Sorry it was too late to keep you from placing an order. It is good to hear that your bank is working with you.

I hope you were able to get the water fountain for your cat and that it is doing well. We have many cat lovers on ScamWarners. :)
