Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

Clearly I'm here because I too placed an order 22.11.10 and have not as yet received. I've tried the same thing as everyone else and had the same responses, or rather lack of response. I've lodged complaints left, right and centre and have recently investigated legal action and have been asking about having Mr McDuff charged with fraud - it does appear that he largely gets away with it and only provides when he absolutely has to. Makes you wonder how many people just accept they've been defrauded of their money and give up??

I think a class action would seem appropriate.

Everywhere I see anything to do with petfood247, Gary John McDuff or petforce I contact and advise them of his business ettiquette and the fact that he's scamming people.

I've waited 8 weeks now for my order and really don't believe I'm going to receive it.

Interestingly, tommygee, the phone number 02 9543 7818 has been disconnected.

I'll continue to research this McDuff person and will continue to complain and will follow through. I sincerely hope Mr McDuff is brought to justice.

Another thing to do is call the Taxation office, as he is a registered business. Let them know what he is up to because what he is doing is a tax related scam, because he is charging GST on the items sold. I am sure the tax office is not receiving what they're entitled to (LOL) on all the goods "sold".

Here is the link:

I have been waiting for my order for over a month...cost $150. No return phone calls, no return emails.

And here's me - another victim of this dodgy operation. I placed an order on 9 November, and have not heard anything since. Several emails to the "company' have had no response. I cannot believe I did not quickly do a Google search before placing my order. I was fooled by the website which looks quite professional.
I am going to try to get my money back through my credit card company and will lodge a complaint with Fair Trading as so helpfully suggested on here. I cannot believe this "company" can have 29 pages of issues and still be operating.

Another option is also to write to Scam Watch. www.scamwatch.gov.au
This is run by the ACCC

I'm still going through google to see how many suppliers are posting his website details etc and I am informing them of his scamful ways. I'm asking them all to shut him down. I urge others to write and complain to these sites, current affairs etc.

We must (and we will) stop this wan*er!

Hi everyone

I have read through this entire thread in disbelief, just awful what people have been through. It's so disappointing that even though online shopping has it's good points, there are people out there to take advantage of you.

I've only been waiting a few weeks for delivery but was afraid that my order was never going to turn up. I called Gary's home phone as per a previous poster. I thought the number would be disconnected but it wasn't. I spoke to Gary, advised him where I had found his phone number and asked him if in fact I would ever be receiving my order. He promised I would receive it by Friday this week. Whether this actually happens or not is another thing. Fingers crossed.

Will keep you updated.

I'm another victim, i have just come across this page much to my horror.

I purchased the same thing ($60 value) back in June/July last year and the sale went off without a hitch, what has happened in the past 6 months for this guy to start ripping people off??

I am waiting for a phone call back from my bank to see if anything can be done, left a missed call on his mobile, emailed and currently his home number is engaged (probably left off the hook).

Has anyone been sucessful in getting their money back? This is the last thing I need right now, all I was trying to do was flea/worm treat my cat!!!

This guy has to be brought down!!

@ scaredycatinc,
Have you placed another order with him or have you been waiting for your order since July?
He has been doing this to the good folks of Australia for well over a year, now.

If you have your order details, you can probably get your money back from the bank that issued your credit card. You have every right to do that, and if you choose, you can drop the matter.

Unfortunately, dropping the issue after you get your money back is exactly what has allowed this man to continue doing this to others. Please consider pursuing this beyond your own refund.

Face it, none of us should have to call our banks to get our money back from him. For that matter, we shouldn't have to keep trying to contact him by phone or email for weeks and then resort to calling him on a home phone number that we only found because it was listed on this forum.

Only when enough people have the willingness to step up and take action against this man, will it stop.

Even if you do get your money back from the bank, please contact Fair Trade NSW and any of the other organisations listed to lodge a formal complaint and help shut him down.

There is an investigation under way to determine the best legal and political way to stop this "business", but we need as much documented evidence/support as possible.

By lodging a formal complaint, you will be helping others, as well as yourself.

A handful of formal complaints will have a very mild, if even perceptible impact. However, a lot of formal complaints cannot be ignored and action will become necessary, whether through government or private channels.

Believe me, an organised effort is being formulated, but will require some investigation and careful progress to ensure that it is both legal and devastatingly effective in shutting him down.

Good luck in getting your money back and please consider helping the effort to stop this person, by filing a formal complaint.

@ JanH

Thanks for your reply.

The first order I placed back in July I received in a very timely manner, that is why I came back without even thinking and placed this second order, I believed it was a legitimate business, hence why I was shocked to read he had been doing this to people.

I have lodged it with my bank, they said it would take upwards of 21 days for a result, fingers crossed it can be refunded (as I have just spent another $113 purchasing a 12 pack of the same thing, didn't really need to outlay that kind of money at the moment, but it is necessary).

I will be lodging complaints with Fair Trading and the ATO as he would be bound to be dodging out on GST and not lodging correct BAS statements, they may hopefully investigate him and shut down the business.

If you have any other suggestions on where I should lodge enquiries please let me know and I will get onto it, I don't want this to happen to any more people, it is just wrong!

If we band together we can stop this jerk from ripping off more unsuspecting people.

I also bought a 6 pack of Advocate for my cat from this website and it never arrived. After waiting almost 2 weeks I became worried and sent an email politely asking where my goods were, no reply! I sent another (less polite stating my concern) no reply again...so I rang the bank and told them what happened and they said they'd look into it and possibly refund my credit card. After 4 days they did so - thanks Commonwealth Bank :) so that's the happy end to my story and has taught me to only use secure sites and also to separately google the name of the company before purchasing - as that's when you see the scam threads - after you've been scammed! Too late! Good luck to everyone who has lost money to this company! I think NSW fair trading or the police should be able to close the website down to save more people losing money. Don't buy from www.petfood247.com.au DODGY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

@ amazed,
I was going to get one set up, as well. I tried to go to the one you listed, but I could find it.
Are you happy to moderate/admin the site on your own?

I posted a couple of days ago with my story. I was so surprised when my order actually turned up today. Very relieved that it arrived but will never order from there again due to the sheer number of people that have never had their orders arrive at all and lack of customer service. Good luck to everyone in getting their stuff eventually.

Hi Everyone,
I thought you might be interested in my story.
So I placed an order with petfood 24/7 on 19/12/10. Following numerous unanswered phone calls and unsuccessful emails... still no delivery.
I placed a 'claim for refund' from my bank which they were happy to assist with given that the merchant never sent the goods. At the same time I had my friend (who is a solicitor) write to Gary McDuff personally at his home address & threaten legal action.
Within 3 days of having sent the letter, the goods arrived in an overnight express post bag.
Obviously McDuff was incredibly scared of the outcome! We threatened class action & ACCC investigation.
Also, given that these governing bodies are so slow to do anything (if anything) about these complaints, I'd be more than happy (if people are interested) to all get together to have a website set up to name & shame this man!

@soph683

Go for it!! I'm on board. I already have a summary of the issues along with a list of sites and information ready to go. Let me know and I'll pass it over.
I've been trying to upload it to FaceBook as well.

Is your friend the solicitor interested in taking this guy on? Contact me via private message if you'd like to discuss this further. (As we all know, Mr. McDuff monitors this thread.)

I did an online order (second time I have used them) on November 18 but didn't received my goods ($AU120 value). I went through all the motions - phone messages, emails, letter to post box address, contacted Dept. Fair Trade, but to no avail. Then just this week found this site with the name and home phone number of the "owner". On Australia Day morning (2 days ago, Jan 26) I called the number and Gary answered. I explained my situation. He checked his computer and said it showed the goods had been sent, but when I stressed again that they had never arrived despite all my communications, he said he would speak to "the girls" to see what had happened. He then pleasantly said he would send them again the next day by Registered post -- I was too stunned by this turnabout to press him further about the two months of no response.
BINGO! My good were delivered by courier this morning (Friday). :=)
What more can I say except just keep calling, and good luck!
