Craigslist, Ebay and other online buying/selling scams.

After having sent 4 emails to this company - the fourth being a request to refund the money asap should they not have the goods, I still haven't received any communication from Petfood247! I've just got off the phone from my credit card company and requested a dispute resolution because no credit has been received. The process is quite lengthy, but at least I know I can recover my money.
SURELY there is something all of the people who have logged in their complaints here can do to stop this sham - if not, an utter disregard for customer service. The first thing I will do is contact the Snooza because I found this website on the company's website listed as one of their online suppliers in NSW. This is appalling as I think at least 5 entries on this forum say they bought a Snooza bed. I am a fan of Snooza. Their beds are well made, but being associated with Petfood247 is a strike to their good name.

I too recently ordered several products from PetFood247 - and like others on this board became concerned when the promised 3 day delivery period elapsed and the company did not respond to my emails. That was when I discovered this site.

I have tried 3 different email adresses with no luck - and the mobile number on their website shows as disconnected because there is a number missing (i.e. all mobile numbers should have 10 digits, it only has 9).

This is very frustrating as I need the goods by this week otherwise I will have to purchase from another supplier. :?

What is the state of play with regards to credit card recovery - if these goods never arrive am I likely to get my money back by contacting the bank? I also intend to lodge complaints with the ACCC/Fair trading if this is the case.

I have certainly learnt a lesson about shopping on the net - in my experience 99% of online retailers are reliable but even so it is probably best to purchase from reputable companies only.

Welcome to Scamwarners everyone, it sounds like their customer service is getting even worse.

From what we have seen you will eventually get your goods, reporting them to the ACCC is never going to do any harm so please do that, if they receive enough complaints they may even do something about it.

Cancelling credit cards because of them should not be necessary, as bad as they are with customer service, there have been no reports of them being thieves, that said, if it gives you peace of mind doing so then go ahead.

Getting refunds;
In order to get a refund you would need to ask them for one, check their refund policy, if they have one and make sure you have followed the terms they set out, my guess is that once they are ready, they will send what you paid for, even if it is a month later than it should have been regardless of how many refund requests you have given, this is something else you could ask the ACCC to help you with but they may be reluctant to help you to recover your comparitively small amount of money.

Please do keep us updated with any new news, we can only hope that one day they lift their game or that the ACCC takes some action, I am not fussed either way.

One good bit of news is that I am informed that there are legal implications in the delivery times they are advertising and also the lack of real contact information for fault resolution.

I am not just going to fee happy to know my goods might turn up soon. I intend to see things through with this supplier and insure he does not continue to trade in this fashion, if at all.

I work for the Government and have good ties with the ACCC and OFT and they are more than happy to investigate this for me.

I would not however, take the advice of not canceling your card. If your card is not changed, even though they may not be known for theft, retention of money without goods is classed as theft and there is always a chance that they may use your card details in the future.

I hope you all receive what you are due. I am still waiting after 2 weeks. No reply and no goods.

I think a call to A Current Affair is next on my list.

Hi Ralph, Melbourne24 and Governer
My bank allows you to dispute 15 days after the said delivery date. I was advised that they will contact the merchant's bank who processed the payment for non-delivery. I have provided my bank with the number of emails I have sent without response, the bogus contact number as well as information in this forum. Melbourne24, your confirmation of order lists a complete mobile number, but it's still disconnected.
I will not accept, "goods will finally turn up" - not when my money was taken the day I ordered the goods. It's been 18 days since I placed the order. I've had to place an order with another company!
I also think that asking for a refund is comical (no offence)! How can I ask for a refund when in 18 days I haven't heard from these guys? What makes you think I will get my money back? Their T&C states:
"Unfulfilled Orders
With orders that cannot be fulfilled the purchaser will be notified with regards to when the order will be fulfilled subject to the availability of the product/s purchased. Alternative products will be suggested to substitute the product in question. Alternatively a full refund will be available as an option."
Surely, 2 weeks late constitutes an unfulfilled order and I haven't received anything to notify me otherwise.
I certainly hope we can hang this company to dry! I am soooo angry that so many of us have been scammed.
I have also advised Snooza about Petfood24/7 and they will be removing them from their list and hopefully as a supplier. Apparently, they are a fairly new seller. Approval was based on the quality of their website which to be honest, looks quite legit and they certainly spend the money advertising because they always come up in searches.
Ralph, I know you're trying to keep people calm and avoiding calling these guys an outright scammer, but heck scammer or not - they are thieves in my books who outwardly breaches their own contract with their customers ie delivery within 3 days!
Governer, bring on the Current Affair!!!!

ahhhhhgggg.

A week after ordering (order worth almost $400) and getting no response from either the askus@ or customer@ email addresses I tried calling the MOBILE numbers they make available (wouldn't have even started the order process if I'd noticed that they only listed mobiles before). One number is incomplete (on the site) the other (on the confirmation email) is complete but doesn't work.

Then I google and here we are.

sigh.

Okay so according to WHOIS data, McDuff is the registrant for petfood247.com.au, and his registrant email address is @petsforce.com.au, which as we now all know no longer exists... now I do know that WHOIS data is legally required to be updated, but that *might* only apply to .com.au registrations (not .com....)

So I've tried writing to answers@ to see what happens.

Will keep y'all posted but wow...

It looks like you have certainly done your homework Disco, well done.

Please, dont get me wrong with my previous comments, I dont particularly care for calm but I do need to ensure that if we make comments that they are factual, (as much as possible) by definition, its not a scam and if I were to say it was there could be concerns for this website.

That said, what they have done to so many people is a disgrace and despite the many complaints they continue to provide the same level of (dis) service, if you or anybody else can get this company the kind of exposure they deserve then I am only too happy for it.

When giving advice on this, I also need to be realistic with the response you may get from some government departments, many of them will be reluctant to help you because the amount of money involved is relatively small so it will take people power and a barrage of complaints to get them to do much about it. Good news is that looking at this thread, you may just have your barrage of complaints.

Despite my calming nature 8) it doesn't mean I dont share your enthusiam for using petfood247 as your dogs next meal

Oh dear, another one to the collection as I put this post together, Welcome to Scamwarners Ward.

May I suggest, if you are going to ring somebody (and I hope you all do) perhaps you may be better off all ringing the same department and if possible speak to the same person, it may just help.

Good luck everyone

Toro10 wrote:I really wish that I read this thread before I ordered items from petfood247! But it seems that I am receiving my items sometime soon... Here is what happened.

I placed an order on the 26th of March and receved the confirmation email which said my item has been shipped on the 30th of March. At this stage, I never suspected that petfood247 is that dodgy. I though the deliverly may be slow due to Easter, but my items didn't arrive even after a week or so. So I sent emails and also tried to ring them, but I never received any reply from them and phone numbers were disconnected. Yesterday, I decided to process complaint to the office of fair trading NSW. I explained the details of what has been happening and even attached the emails I have sent to petfood247. Today, the fair trading officer came back to me and told me that he contacted Mr McDuff and checked the deliverly status. According to the report, McDuff sent my items by courier once and the deliverly returned to them on the 13th of April (I have no idea why) and he sent me the items again with Australia Post. Although I could not get a tracking number for the ongoing deliverly with Aus post, I have got a tracking number for the previous courier deliverly and it was legitimate.

Hopefully my items won't be retured to the sender this time... As most people here say, this company may not be a scam, but customer service does not exist at all! For people who have been waiting for the items for a while, I would suggest that you contact the office of fair trading in NSW. I'm not sure how much further action they can take, but they could at least contact McDuff guy and gave me update whereas I can never reach him direct.

:D for you Ralph.

I think your suggestion of CALLING THE SAME DEPARTMENT AND SPEAKING TO THE SAME PERSON is a fantastic idea. One poster here called Toro did have contact with Fair Trading as above. Is there any way of contacting Toro and find out if he/she's got the details for the person at Fair Trading?

I am another unfortunate victim of www.petfood247.com. My story is just like everyone elses. It leaves you feeling sick to the stomach. Goodness only knows how many other people are out there waiting and waiting for their goods to arrive! If someone can post the contact name and phone # at the NSW Fair Trading dept that would be great. If everyone makes a formal complaint then hopefully something gets done about it, as this appalling business conduct needs to stop!
by DiscoPup Wed May 05, 2010 4:01 am
Thanks Michelle! I've contacted Toro.

:-( hopefully I'll hear from Toro and he'll have the contact details of the person he/she'd spoken to at Fair Trading. It is time for Petforce 24/7 to stop trading.
by ward Wed May 05, 2010 6:39 am
Okay, a little more digging.

Petsglobal lists "Oasis 4 Pets Pty Ltd" as a 'buyer' of pet products. The contact is a Mr Gary McDuff, 10 Kiara Close, Bangor, Austria [sic], 2234.

Can't imagine there're too many McDuffs selling pet stuff in Bangor.

Fair Trading Database search reveals that this is also the registered address for petfood247.

BN98461919 - http://WWW.PETFOOD247.COM.AU
(i) Business name: http://WWW.PETFOOD247.COM.AU
(ii) Registration number: BN98461919
(iii) Registration details:

Date registered: 19/10/2009
Registration status: REGISTERED
Nature of business: PET SUPPLIES
Renewal due date: 19/10/2012
ABN: UNKNOWN
(iv) Principal place of business: Address: 10 KIARA CL BANGOR NSW 2234 from 19/10/2009
(v) Trading history under business name:

Searching white pages for this address returns one E. Mcduff. Mobile 0433 806 967

Might get a few calls in the morning? :bondage:

I just found this site by googling for info. Wish I had seen it sooner
I placed my order on 21 April and received confirmation email immediately. That is the only email I have received to date. I have emailed 3 times requesting updates.
Customer Service - I don't think they know what that is. They obviously do not worry about repeat business.

A friend suggested I ring the 2 post offices re their 2 PO Box addresses.
Jannali Post Office said they have not renewed that one, and the post office has been returning parcels to sender as they are not collecting their mail either and they have had no contact with them.

I rang Bangor Post Office .(02) 9543 2333 -spoke to Steven, he confirmed they are a current customer and the PO Box 3369 is only a couple of mths old. They were aware that they had previously used Jannali PO, Steven said he comes in daily to collect his mail and he will see him this afternoon and will pass on my name and phone number. Steven said he did mention something about his supplier having problems so thought that could be the reason.

( :yikes: Now there's a thought, if we could all lie in wait and ambush him...........)

I am hopeful that my order will eventually arrive as per other posts. I only spent $59.98 on cat food and OzPet litter, but I am a pensioner so it is too much to lose. I paid by Visa debit card and my credit union said I cannot dispute this unfortunately as it is not a Credit card as such.
I have since had to buy the items elsewhere so am out of pocket at present.
I will wait for the Dept of Fair Trading contact details and will definitely make a formal complaint.

My friend said to contact the police immediately, has anyone tried this with any result?

I will let you know if anything new happens.
by Ralph Wed May 05, 2010 8:32 am
Hi Catsrule,
Welcome to Scamwarners.

To my knowledge, nobody has contacted the police in regards to this but I am guessing they will be even more reluctant to help you. As bad as their customer service is, I dont think they have commited any crimes.

If anybody does contact the ACCC or fair trading, please post the details for others to lodge their complaint.

@Discopup, if you dont hear back from Toro, you could make a call yourself and post the details here
