Hi, I posted chairs on Kijiji in Ontario, Canada. Two responses began via text at these two numbers.
Ann Forest +1 (312) 205-9629 indicating to email her with the following: [email protected] ...your final price and pictures of the item (2 Natuzzi recliners all leather) posted on kijiji as really interested in buying it.
Will be waiting reading from you.
Regards.
Ann

The other number...
Roberto Emerson +1 (252) 696-1978
Hi, Did you still have the furniture available for sales? If yes, pls email me at [email protected] don't text back cos am at work and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert

I received replies from each one...terrible grammar and ridiculous text...
From Ann Forest: Im okay with the price and condition , is this email also your PayPal email ? Let me know asap so i can arrange the payment through PayPal. my shipper will be coming to pick it up as soon as the payment clears into your account . Reply soon

From Roberto Emerson: [i]Sound Good, I am happy with the condition and the price. I will be paying directly through PayPal. i'm presently working in USA as a marine biologist so i won't be able to come and do things personally, But i will arrange a shipping courier that will pick it up at your door step as soon as you receive the payment, I have a Courier agent that handles this all the time. I'll add the 4.6% paypal surcharge to the total amount I'm paying you. If you could just send me a paypal payment invoice or create an account at http://www.paypal.com if you don't already have one and set it up within 5mins, Please can you provide me with the following information:[i]

Same here this past weekend. Posted Kijiji ad. Text reply identical, though from +1 (252) 558-0765. I was a bit more gullable and had a brief email exchange with "Roberto". I soon received this:

We just want you to understand that as this transaction was done via our e-mail payments service, any inquiries and necessary information should be sent to us by directly replying to this message, because of the status of this transaction, it has not been passed on to our customer care phone service section, and all inquiries should be directed to this e-mail address as it is the one monitored for your transaction.

Be informed that this transaction is only available and can only be tracked and traced via our customer care email [email protected],so do reply back to us if you have any question about the transaction and not via phone call.

There was a follow-up email from what looked like an official PayPal address asking that I send his shipping company $450 and Roberto would be kind enough to then release payment for the item, + reimburse the $450. My reply to him at that point wasn't "Scam", it was more vulgar than that! Also reported this to PayPal.

I received the exact same thing the past week. She texted me about a bedroom set from 1-636-400-3889. I'm in Calgary, and her area code concerned me. I looked it up, and apparently that is a Missouri area code. I emailed her and then I received the exact email you just posted, word-for-freaking-word.
I looked her name up to see if this was too good to be true (nobody replies that quickly, from so far away, making no negotiations, and offers to have someone pick it up). Apparently, it was.
Thank you for making this post! :D

"Kindly email me directly ([email protected]) your final price and pictures of the furniture posted on kijiji as really interested in buying it.

Anyway, I replied, thanking her for her interest, as well as my price and photos, and she replied with:

"Im okay with the price and condition , is this email also your PayPal email ? Let me know asap so i can arrange the payment through PayPal. my shipper will be coming to pick it up as soon as the payment clears into your account . Reply soon"

Scammers are so bloody frustrating.

636-400-3889 << Is a Voip. This means it can call and be answered anywhere in world with internet access.

In this scam the scammer is NOT interested in your furniture. He wants to steal your money. No one will ever come to pick up the furniture. It is all a scam with the scammer playing all roles. The scammer is using a free email address and a fake name.

The scammer will send you a fake Paypal payment. He has a fake Paypal address from a free email provider. The payment will look real. Its a screen shot of a fake payment. He then will instruct you to pay a mover, shipper or agent. The fake Paypal email from the scammer would say that your Paypal funds will be released when you send the scammer (mover, agent or shipper) money via Western Union or Money Gram. In reality Paypal would never hold your funds.

Log into Paypal directly without any links to check for monies received or call Paypal directly from the number on their site.

If you are selling electronics, Cell phones or computers then the scammer is trying to steal your "item". Your fake funds will be released when you send the scammer a scan copy of a receipt showing you mailed your item.

This same scam works with fake checks and money orders. You and your bank will think they are real. After you cash the fake check. Days or weeks later your bank will inform you of the fraud. Your bank will have you repay the monies. Possibly close your account for fraud and report you to Law Enforcement.

The best thing to do is to sell in person face to face in a public place.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.
