I posted a car on Autotrader and luckily followed their guidelines. I got a message asking condition and best price, I said make an offer. I had asked $4700 for a Ford Focus and they replied with $4500. They wanted my email to send a paypal payment. I got suspicious as Autotrader says only accept cash or certified cheque. I googled it and found this site.
When I replied $4500 is fine and pay cash or cheque but first look at and drive the car, no reply was made. [email protected] is the email this scam originated from. I used question mark to replace one letter in the address so it's not completely posted, but you'll know it if you come across it in a scam.
Luckily I had done a lot of Ebay and Payal to know better, buying sight unseen really set off my radar.
Kids cant scam guys who have been around and most likely twice their age.
These scammers have the possibility of making $1k or more a week searching through online sales ads, pretty cushy life with no tax to pay. Should and will nail them on tax evasion.
